Hi 8Pack,

I'm currently running the specs in my sig and my RAM n these settings:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Now, as an overclocking enthusiast (as well as humble student) I am wondering what sorts of timings and frequency I can push for the RAM on my current chip? Also, how would I go about this? I understand that because I have a limit to the 3820's IMC as well as 16gb populated in 4 dims I might be pushing it a bit - but I guess I'm in the right place to be asking these sorts of questions ;)

If you need any more information on my BIOS settings such VCCSA, PPL and VTT (as well as any other settings) I will be more than happy to fetch them for you!

First things first - many thanks for yer help.

Yeah, the mobo is a great one. I wanted a decent board so I could hell for leather on the overclocks when I had read up on them a bit more. Maybe a board for Ivybridge-E chip when I need one.

I'm Prime testing right now, I followed all your advice and also lower the multiplier by one to counter my cpu frequency going up and I have also had to bump the Vcore a tad to get it stable. Once I'm done with this prime test, I'll bang up a image to show where I am at.

Right now, it looks like a can squeeze:

BLK: 128.5
RAM: 2398Mhz
CPU Multiplier: 35
CPU Vcore: BIOS - 1.285 / CPU-Z 1.272
CPU Freq: 4497.5
RAM Primary Timings: As you stated above
Other settings: As you mentioned above.

Almost 2400Mhz on this Samsung RAM. Impressive.

So, where would I go in terms of timings?

Ok, I have noticed something. There is no Minimal Pulse Width tCKE setting in my BIOS, yet it is in memtweakit. I had noticed this back when I first started tinkering with the computer but I thought nothing of it as I wasn't really tinkering with the 2nd timings. It has never appeared in any of the BIOS firmware updates either. Therefore, when trying to input the values to the BIOS, I have one left spare (on top of DRAM FOUR ACT WIN Time not wanting the value = 6 and defaulting to 15)

Oh and CAS 9 doesn't boot.

Please let me know of my noob failings!

Ta!

edit: Rossi : After some reading on Vdroop I understand what you are referring to - thanks man!

edi: Removed that tRAS comment -even I'm surprised how noob that was.

Ok,

so the values are set, but I was getting BSOD 1A on prime, sometimes freezing on the windows splash screen, when I retry to boot.

I upped the Vcore to 1.315 and my multiplier back to 36 and now it boots in to windows. However, when I run prime the workers fail with either a fatal error or an illigal sumout. Any advice?

Ok, I've had a tinker with the settings you suggested. The only ones I can't get down are:

DRAM WRITE Recovery Time (14 instead of 12)

and

tRP .

I did have a tinker with the VCCSA/RAM voltage, however, I never really tinkered with the VCCSA Digi power options as in your guide you mentioned that it would add to the CPU degradation. I'm pretty stoked about these settings so far. I'm wondering, now, if I'm nearing the limit with timings or there are more tweaks?

Cheers.

The knowledge imparted on this topic helped me to get my sammy green to 2520mhz SuperPi32m stable. Thanks guys. :)
