Samsung HD1080P screen

How easy/reliable or even good is it to use an actuall LCD tv? As I have a spare 30" Samsung 1080p in my bedroom that never gets used. Would be great to use it as a monitor for everyday use, but how would it work. Would I damage it or even hurt my eyes (strain, ect...)

Will probably look great for games, but poor for web browsing and other work you're doing.

I tried a 32" 1080p tv before giving it to a relative and games look brill, by which I mean the picture isn't as good as a monitor but the giant size offsets it and makes games feel epic.

I wouldn't want one though instead of a monitor, as text looked rubbish and just looked "wrong" when I wasn't playing a game.
