Hello :D

Well yesturday I got myself a nice modest matching samsung home cinema setup to go with my LG 32LX2R.

I have the samsung dvd hd860 that I'm using over hdmi and its connected to the matching samsung ht as610 receiver over optical digital connection.

When playing dvds I some times get up on the screen HDMI audio not supported? I have the audio out on the DVD player set to bitstream for Digital out and mpeg 2 digital. Is this correct?

The message goes away after about 10 seconds but I just wanted to know why it says that and if I have the correct audio settings.

I must say I've watched IRobot and Matrix 2 on it and the picture is flippin fantastic and the sound is brilliant

I'm so happy with the purchase and I would recomend both products to anyone!!

Thanx in advance for anyhelp!!

I get the same message with my 850 (the previous model DVD player). It's perfectly normal (but annoying), and nothing to do with the receiver.
It's reminding you that the HDMI connection between the DVD player and the TV doesn't carry any audio signals, just the video. Not a problem, since you are using a separate optical cable.

I'm not sure why Samsung haven't fixed this bug. HDMI is capable of carrying audio, but Samsung DVD players can't do it if the output is set to bitstream (which it has to be, to get 5.1 to a receiver). If you set the output to PCM, you don't get the message, but your receiver will only get a stereo signal (prologic).

Thanx for the reply :) I'm glad its not a fault.

Strange they haven't fixed the problem, I doubt it would be much for them to stop it saying that.

It is a great DVD player though!
