Samsung JS8000 screen smashed. Get a KS7,8 or 9?

Like a typical Wii Numchuck moment on YouTube I picked up my phone from the charging pad & it slipped out my hand & hit the TV screen then landed on a metal weights bar. The S7e remarkably survived scratch free :eek:
I'd guess a Nokia would have gone straight through the screen.

Anyway, I'm going have do some overtime cus I'm clumsy :mad: so was thinking of plumping for something maybe better.

Can still get the JS8000 for £1099, but the JS9000 is £999 huh?
The £875 KS7000 PQI 2100 seems to be the nearest spec to the JS8000 PQI 1800.
Although the £1249 KS8000 PQI 2300 or KS9000 PQI 2400 £1399 maybe within reach.
Is it worth getting an 8000 over a 7000?
I've read the reviews but cant tell if the HDR of the 7000 is as good as the 8000.

I'm big into gaming & HDR media.
The Grand Tour in HDR looked amazing & Horizon 3, Gears 4 in HDR something to behold. Granted the Xbox slim is only upscaling to 4k like the PS4 pro but the HDR I recon is a better improvement than real 4k would be.
Before any PS4 fanboys get in a tizzy, yes the PS4 pro does a better upscale to 4k than Xbox slim.

Sticking with Samsung as they have the best Game lag of 21ms. Looked at the Sony but theres is 51-70ms plus they have other bugs.
Dolby Vision looks interesting on the LG LED but LG don't have as many nits, this really bugged me as Netflix is in DV too :D. Though Xbox slim plays 4k blue ray in their HD10 anyway.
 
I heard OLED was not as bright but yep the blacks are amazing which compensates for the lack of peak brightness especially in a dark room which is how I watch films but I thought OLED was just way out of my price.
I also heard OLED was poor at motion control & fuzzed images when moving, is that true?
30ms lag would be ok, probably wouldn't notice from the 22ms I've been used to.

The JS8000 was a 55" flat. Would really prefer another flat screen as its on a wall & being that size thought it may look daft curved, unless boxed it in somehow which I'm not keen on doing.

FALD is in reach but it's Panasonic with poor motion etc + 6 fans using 384watts OMG but I'd guess the HDR brightness is awesome + clouding in check.*


Oled has it's pro's/cons but maxes at 520nits with 120 full screen, though the difference from pure black will help but you're still not getting the peak HDR brightness. Plus HDR10 peak levels are referenced from 1000-4000nits which even on a £5000 oled will clip the highlights & skew the colours, even tho overall it looks better because of oled. Dolby Vision helps with clipping highlights as there's not a set level like with HDR10 & each frame has its own level, but obviously you're not going be 'dazzled' with realism.


The KS8000 seems the safer bet. Even though it has issues it's the best overall compromise. Plus has the best lag time for gaming.
 
Thanks, I'm leaning towards the KS8000 or what they call in the US the KS9000.
I was always impressed with the 600nits highlight peaks of the JS8000 so the 1000+ nits of the KS8000 should be great.

A question though, the KS7000 is £875 but the 8000 is £1249, an extra £374!
Not bothered about the aesthetics or fancy stand & the 8000 only looks to have a slightly higher brightness so confused why it costs so much more.

Ideally would love the B6V but that's £1749 & I'm not happy its peak brightness is quite poor, though similar to my old JS8000 lol.
