I'm trying to connect my PC to my LCD screen using component video, as I don't have the vga cable. The graphics card is an ATI AIW 9800 Pro and im using the component output.
The problem i'm having is that the screen is just shades of blue i.e. not using all the colours. I suspect that it's something to do with the PC drivers or something, but not sure. I've tried using different resolutions but still get the same result. Also the bottom of the screen looks as if there's interference i.e. it's a bit wavy.
Anyone had the same problem and know of a solution?

On some equipment with component inputs/outputs there is an option to set the component connections as RGB or yPbPr. Possibly that needs checking.. It sounds a bit like when I had my PS2 set to RGB when the display was expecting yPbPr. possibility anyway, hope it helps.

According to the Bumph, the 9800 does have a component output. Be sure you are using all three component cables ( green(Y), blue(PB), red(Pr) ) and not just the single composite (yellow) cable. My Nvidia card has an extension cable you plug into it that has Svideo, Composite( yellow) and component connectors (Red, Blue, Green) You then have to visit the driver software to select the output type ie Svideo, component or Composite.

I wouldnt bother with composite, though your LCD deserves better! If all else fails, get a VGA cable. I was running Media centre to My Samsung LE32 and it looked ace. I am now running my Xbox 360 to the TV and am very pleased with it!

Thanks for the advice. It seems that you may be right, in which case it would be a driver issue.
I just searched the ATI site and it confirms that I need to run a file called AIB_DRV which enables the correct component out (knew I should have looked at the site first).
Next problem is that it says the file is stored on the driver CD that comes with the card but I no longer have the disc.
Can anyone tell me if the file is contained within the latest Catalyst drivers or can recommend another place to get hold of it.
I'm in work at the moment so I can't check the Catalyst drivers myself.

sorry edited filename it should be AIB_DRV not ATI_DRV
