Samsung LE40R87 or LE40M87? a question

I think I've narrowed my choices down to these two panels:

Samsung 40" LE40R87BDX £649.99 inc VAT+Delivery

HD ready 720p
8000:1 Dynamic contrast (matt panel)​

Samsung 40" LE40M87BDX £799.99 inc VAT+Delivery

full HD, 1080p
15000:1 Dynamic contrast (Super clear/gloss panel)​

At the moment I'm mainly going to be using the TV for:

• Xbox 360
• Sky Digital
• PC gaming

I won't be viewing any 1080p material just yet, although it'd be a nice option to have for futureproofing in case I ever decide to go down the bluray road.

My question comes down to my present needs; will the 40" 1080p Samsung give a noticeably worse picture for SD TV and 360 content over the 40" 720p Samsung because it's scaling the picture more (up to 1920x1080 pixels as apposed to 1366x768 pixels)?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm relatively new to the world of HDTVs.
Any opinions on these 2 sets is also greatly welcomed! Thanks!

Considering you can get the 40" M87 for £699 now if you look hard enough the decision is really no contest. It will wipe the floor with the R87 in all departments. For that price you may as well get 1080p for the future, you would probably end up regretting it.
