Samsung monitor problem

Hi all -

Just looking for a bit of advice, to make sure I'm not being daft!

My monitor (a Samsung 2233rz) went wrong, and Samsung have swapped it under warranty. The replacement monitor is supposedly exactly the same, yet when plugged in to the PC, Windows detects it as the wrong monitor - a "Samsung Syncmaster 530/531 TFT (LXB550*)". This, as well as being wrong (!) doesn't offer the modes, resolution or 3d capacity of the original. I have tried installing the driver for the 2233rz, but unsurpisingly that makes no difference to the resolution etc available. Another oddity is that this new monitor shows none of the boot information, it remains resolutely black until the Vista/Windows roundel appears.

I am presuming that this replacement monitor is faulty, as plug and play should surely recognise the monitor? Obviously the system worked fine with the exact same model monitor previously.

So, am I missing something? (I have already put in a request the Samsung give me a monitor that actually works properly, so I am going to be embarrassed if I am!)

Thanks - Jon

Hi, I have just had the same problem this week. Mine has just been replaced and got the same issue: Windows detects it as the wrong monitor - a "Samsung Syncmaster 530/531 TFT (LXB550*).

So what happened with yours as I can get it into any of the 3D modes.

Thanks Joe
