Samsung monitor problem

Ok..just bought a samsung syncmaster 2333 off members market but when i connected it to the wifes 4850 all i get is the blue flashing light on the monitor....am i missing something obvious?

What connector did you use? Press the 'source' button slowly until it gets to the correct setting (depends on the cable you're using).

Sorted...sort of....used a dvi to dsub adapter and its now working!....wont work with the dvi cable though!...and yes the dvi cable works with the old monitor.

there is a button on the 2333 which swithches it between digital and analogue, I know because I had the same problem last week

Tried the button several times but it wouldnt fire up with DVI...all sorted now with the DVI/D-sub adapter.
