Ok guys Im desperate for some help. Ive did a bit of scanning through the FAQ and done a search of a few older threads but couldnt find anyone with the same problem as me, only a few similar ones.

Heres the story.

I have my a comp set up with Virgin 10Mb cable, with a Belkin N1 wireless router from which my laptop runs off wirelessly perfect. Its a relatively new router (no more than 6 months) and the laptop is ancient, around 5 years now! Also my iPhone runs off the wifi fine.

Now I just purchased this Samsung NC10 (currently wired from the cable modem for the purpose of this thread). Ive tried connecting it to the wifi, and keep getting this "limited or no connectivity" message. Though in 2 short instances, it has connected at 54mbps, I think it was and worked briefly.

Ive read about updating the drivers of the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless, and tried that, to no avail, it says the drivers are up to date. Also tried configuring the 802.11b Preamble value to long only, and long and short, both have the same outcome. When I took the details of gateway off the desktop CPU it connected first time it just doesnt seem to be able to get them on its own. I read a bout network authentication somewhere and trying WPA-PSK and WPA but neither again works.

Im sure the solution is simple, but Im going to start tearing my hair out soon!! Has anyone else encountered this problem??

I have looked briefly over the settings of the router itself, but I really aint all sure what Im doing if Im honest, incase you never guessed! Haha. I have a very basic knowledge of computers when it comes to the stuff you guys seem to help with so yer....its normally a useful place for info so im hoping you can help me.

Many thanks in advance.

I'm running a similar setup to you just with the predecessor to that router without issue. I'm guessing you are still on XP on the Samsung? It sounds like your network 'card' on the NC10 is set up with a manually configured IP address - that would be my first port of call - check the settings are all to automatic in the network card settings page.

Also worth running the diagnostic that comes with either explorer or MSN - both are pretty good at pinpointing the area of the problem.

If you can - you could always upgrade to Windows 7 which would probably solve the problem (networking is a lot more robust on 7)

Also - try connecting the NC10 to the router with an ethernet cable to check that works.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I'm late responding. Ill try the card settings, and then the diagnostic.

All is well with the ethernet cable. You are right it is on XP. I dont really have much money to upgrade to 7, I am going to take it round to me mates Weds/Thurs and see if he can do much with it. Hes a bit of a whizz on computers so. Here is hoping he can help.
