I agree, mine would act differently on full brightness - soon as I lowered or changed it then no screen. It is some issue with the ribbon cable - cleaning and refitting sorted the problem for me (had reset cpu etc etc and that didnt help)
Thanks, guys! I've only had it since mid-June, purchased from Amazon. Maybe I ought to drop them an email? I don't know how complicated it would be to get it exchanged or fixed; I'm used to dealing with local retailers. I do have a nearby computer shop who would certainly take a look, but that would invalidate the warranty.
Perfect - you will have a minimum of 1 year's warranty with amazon direct - you can either opt to RMA it through amazon, or go to Samsung direct - I'd probably try Amazon first - just go through Returns Center and follow the instructions.
If an item is in warranty, it's almost always better to get it fixed properly rather than risking your warranty by messing about with it yourself
