The price on these for a 55" seems to be moving in the right direction. I had a look at online reviews and a couple highlighted motion issues. If there are any owners out there who could comment that would be great.

I don't game at all but looking for a TV that does sport well plus the odd movie at the weekend as well as the usual HD free view for higher management.

My initial research suggests this may be my best choice below a Sony XF9005 but then I'm moving in to OLED money and wasn't looking to spend that much

I had a look at this and the 7400 in RS last week amongst others. Given the current pricing with 15% off on ebay it's a no brainer.

Nothing else to touch it in the price bracket imo.
Thanks for that. If I did want to improve on this model, how much extra would I need to spend in your view

So far so good. I haven’t spent a lot of time tweaking the settings but out of the box it’s much better than the Philips 55” that it replaces. The software is quick and easy to use, no lag or delays.
I’ll play with the settings later and tweak stuff then report back.
Hope you are still enjoying your purchase. If you get a few minutes to share your thoughts that would be great

The only issue the NU8000 is it's not FALD and it stutters with low frame content. So you want to be feeding it content with a high number of FPS.

Improve on what specifically?

The NU8000 is the best value for money tv right now. It' also the second best Gaming LCD out right now.

If you want to improve in terms of gaming then you want the XF90 which is 50% more for the 55 inch. So 50% more money for like a 5% improvement.

If you want to improve PQ overall then the Q6FN is better and it only costs like £100-£200 more.

Your question is far too vague. If you spend more you will be able to get better tv's. However it also depends on your usage. If you don't game then the Q6FN is better to go for. Then the Q7FN. XF90. Q8FN and then OLED and Q9FN.

How much better depends on what you are going to be using it for, what you actually know about tv's too and what to look for.
Thanks for that. You are correct my use of the term better was too vague. I don't game at all but do watch a fair bit of sport and also want a good picture quality for the occasional movie at the weekend, as well as a few Netflix shows for higher management.

I'm no TV expert so I may not be able to fully appreciate all the subtleties written about in reviews. Alternatively I am not hamstrung by looking for issues. I compared the Samsung side by side with the equivalent price Sony last week and to my eyes it appeared crisper with punchier colours. However I recognise this may have been down to settings on the individual TV's.

As a final question for my viewing needs does the Q6FN warrant a look for the extra cash ?

it's marginally better. it all depends on how much you value that extra cash.

IMO no it doesn't. but i value the money differently.

the best jump from the NU8000 is to the XF90 IMO then after that an OLED

so get the XF90 for £1200 if you can. it is FALD and a better set overall. the difference will be noticeable.

however if you aren't a tv expert save yourself £500 and get the NU8000. most people wouldn't know the difference between them even side by side.

Thanks for that. Great to get some real world advice that doesn't always involve totally emptying the piggy bank !!

Yes it does.

There is stutter on low frame content.

Do you watch bluray or dvd?
If not it won't be an issue as sky, Netflix, etc is all 30fps plus
I do watch DVD although will upgrade to a 4k player with a new TV. Am I correct in thinking its more apparent with slow pans than faster action ? I guess its a question of testing it out to see if I can live with it before making a decision.

My main sport comes from BT Sport is this also 30fps ?

I'll start off by saying that I'm no TV expert. I'm just a regular user that likes a decent quality TV and sound system (which is what I've got)

My previous TV was a 4k Philips 55" and whilst it was ok, it was slow to change channels, the inbuilt freeview went blank every few minutes and generally I wasn't happy with it. After doing a bit of research I narrowed my choice of TVs down to either Hisense 65U7A or Samsung NU8000. By all accounts both are very good quality but as I already have a Samsung 40KU6400 as a PC monitor I decided to go with the Samsung.
Out of the box the Samsung picture quality was fantastic whereas my previous Philips needed hours to fine tuning to get it vaguely right. I did however play with the Samsung settings and followed the instructions at Rtings and now the quality is even better. Standard definition is a little bit blurry as you'd expect on a 65" screen but HD content is very sharp, colours reproduction is excellent in my eyes and generally I can't really fault it. There are two tiny visual negatives, one is that you can see the edge lighting a tiny bit when you have a totally black screen however 99.9% of the time it's unnoticable. The other is that I occasionally notice the smallest amount of judder on some HD channels, most of the time it's perfectly smooth but every now and again I'll spot it. I'm sure that messing with the advanced settings could eliminate it but it's so rare that I haven't bothered yet. One other tiny annoyance is that I can't seem to get rid of the TV Plus thing, I delete it and it comes back next time I switch on so the only way to hide it seems to be to move it to the right hand side of the menu and never bother with it.
Non-screen related but it's nice that the ARC stuff switches on my amp really quickly, it used to take a good 10 seconds on my old Philips so I was always waiting to turn the volume up or switch channels after I had turned the power on. So such wait on the Samsung.

Overall I'm extremely happy with it and seeing as I paid <£1000 I think it's a bargain.
Thanks for taking the time to get back and share your thoughts. It's good to hear you are enjoying your new TV
