Samsung P2450H - Black Screen

Purchased the Samsung P2450H earlier in the week and have been enjoying it's beauty on a number of games, until now.

I switched my Pc on this morning and the screen didn't initialize, the red touch pad controls lit up but the screen stayed black, i have since replaced vga / dvi cables, power cable.

I also had the backup of 3 other machines to try the monitor on - for each machine the screen stayed black and did nothing. Usually it will come up searching for an input but it wont even do that.

Sounds like it. Presumably you've tried pressing menu buttons? Anyway you can get hold of another monitor to test with PC?

Have you tried pressing/touching the 'Auto' button on the monitor?

Currently running my old V7 monitor on the same Pc and its working fine.

Yeah tried all the buttoms, when you press the enter button the screen flickers for a moment.

Foruntately they come with a 3 year warranty, so get onto Samsung or the point of sale and get it replaced.

If you can try it with another machine first, that'd be a decent test I suppose.

hmm just plugged it in after a few hours again and i can just about see my desktop background, it's extremely dull like 10% brightness.

Is there any way of resetting the Lcd back to defaults just in case it's screwed?

Fire an email over to Samsung support, if there is they'll instruct you how.

managed to reset the OSD by following samsung manual but its still 90% dark and can't see anything hardly ;(

Sounds like the backlight is dead

I would contact the place of purchase and get a replacement if you can that way you will get a new monitor. If not give Samsung a call they are very good but you will most likely get a reconditioned unit

Little update.......i put my old monitor back in on Monday and was going to take the Samsung to Ocuk yesterday for RMA, Friday i decided to double check to make sure it was really dead and guess what...it worked!

Had it on all day friday and all day Saturday, turned it on this morning and it's just a black screen again, no serching for inputs and no osd. Tried it on other machines and get the same problem, but i bet if i leave it a few days and try it again it will work.

Call samsung. They are very reasonable and will replace your monitor very quickly. Just ask nicely
