Hi there, the gf and i are looking at getting a new TV as our current one (20" CRT) is a bit dwarfed in our room.

As per title, i have seen the titled monitor around for pretty decent prices (on OCUK for around £580) which i thought was quite good for a TV of that size.

Is there anything i should look out for regarding it, or any others that would provide better performance for similar monies (looking around on the forum the Panasonic PX80 seems to be banded around a bit)

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

PX80 gets branded around because of its excellent picture for the price you pay, far superior to that samsung, very noticable.

Samsungs have plenty of reliability issues aswell, so it's luck whether you get one which is trouble free. plus they have copius firmware updates which other sets do not need.

For a little over 600 the PX80 is unbeatable in that price range.

I did loads and loads and loads of internet/forum research and looked at quite a few tv's in shops and the PX80 was really the only option for my type of viewing and my budget.
I love it.

Lovely, thanks for the extra bit of info on that. I have heard about Samsung in the past having panel issues with their monitors also.

I shall certainly consider the PX80, and put it to the GF and see what she thinks.

Cheers again

Go for a Panasonic plasma if you can ..
See if you can source an old PZ70 ..full HD...
Or if you can stretch to a PZ85 (full HD) ....for around the £800/900 mark...really worth the extra money if you can stretch to it...

I think around the £650 is the max i can go to really.

I have just had a look at the difference between HD ready and Full HD now though so wouldnt mind going for a full HD TV.

Hmmmmmm, gonna have to do a bit of saving methinks.

Full HD is only worthwhile if you're sitting close and/or buy a huge screen. I'd rather have a HD ready Pioneer, than a full HD Samsung crap TV.

After a lot of looking around i think that i am gonna go for the Panasonic TX-37LZD80 as from the reviews it seems pretty good, and has a native resolution of 1920x1080 so from what i have read will be full HD.

Thanks very much for the advice and pointing me towards Panasonic :)

I would say that the viewing would just about justify a 37" 1920x1080 TV, going by that chart you linked to.

When i am viewing the TV it will be from between 5ft (playing console) up to around 15ft when i am watching a film etc in bed.
