Hi, I have XPS L701X win 7 64 bit with nvidia GeForce GT445M. I have set compatibility to vista (service pack2) and run in admin. In nvidia control panel go to display, adjust desktop size and position, then select use nvidia scaling with fixed-aspect ratio.

Or
I also have an Acer Aspire 5742G with a GT540M. I fixed it by complete accident when I was altering the drivers and config files to get F1 2011 running smoothly. I did so by installing the new Intel HD drivers first, found here (get the 32 bit if you need to).

I then downloaded Nvidia drivers 280.26. The installation indicated that it didn't install correctly. However I rebooted, and then my laptop rebooted a second time. After that I fired ahead and added my games on the Nvidia control panel. Runs absolutely perfectly, getting more than 30% FPS increase over the previous setup that was already preinstalled on the laptop.

Hope that helps for anyone with optimus issues*

Confirming my trip to a darker side; the spec is however pretty close to your Sammy, I can still bash this game about on it if it will help, plenty of suggestions to try I see, should be here in a week, at least this time I know it actually exists:-

Dell XPS L502x
Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM (4 cores, 8 threads, 6M Cache, 2.2 GHz boost to 3.10 GHz)
6 GB Dual Channel DDR3 1333MHz
15.6" Full HD B+RGLED True-Life (1920x1080) with 2.0MP Integrated Camera
750 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
8X DVD +/- RW DRIVE
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (2x2 b/g/+ Bluetooth Combo Card)
Primary 9-cell 90W/HR LI-ION
Fished it off the outlet for £563.27, busy day out there, this was my 4th attempt!

Jbugman.

Thanks for the comments, I will give them a try.

I kinda gave up on that game and got hooked on FM 2012... Hopefully this stuff you just gave me solved the game and ill post back here later on.

lowrez

Pity you didn't get that laptop it's a decent machine, LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!...

Having followed all the other guides, compats, admin, ownership etc, i did following,
1. Downloaded
Microsoft DirectX SDK (March 2008), loaded up both 32bit and 64bit DirectX control panels, go to DirectDraw on both, check Hardware Acceleration on on both, close.
2. Start Menu, type DXIAG, display, check all enabled, same for 64bit close.
3. Now patch
4. Set to ME
5.Set Admin worked on all

I am not understanding this.

1. DD on Both? Hardware Acceleration on on Both ??????
2. Enabled in Start run DXDIAG.
3. Patch what?
4. Set to ME? is that Windows ME?

I don't see that in my Control Panel?

I just decided to log on Tiberian Sun on my Samsung laptop and guess what, No more grey bars and I'm able to log online without any problems and play a game...

Not sure what exactly happened there? Could have been some fix from a window update by microsoft or such? As far I know I haven't done anything to try to sort out the Tiberian Sun issue.

The problem fixed itself, Thank god!!!
