Hello people,

As per the title my girlfriends Laptop (Samsung RV520 i3 2330m spec) is having problems and typically is about 2 weeks outside of its warranty

Basically this is what happend.

Sunday night i was on the laptop and the battery got low and i was lazy so just used it until it turned itself off.

Yesterday the girfriend goes on the laptop with the charger plugged in it boots up fine and resumes from where it shut itself down.

After about 2 hours or her looking at shoes and other typical girl stuff on the net and facebook it bluescreened, i also noticed it failed to do a system dump and was stuck on this blue screen for about 20 mins.

So decided to hold the power button to turn off and then turned back on and since then it turns on straight to the boot options screen with f2 for boot options f4 for recovery.

What ever I try I cannot get past this screen and there is no noise from the laptop at all.

Any idea what has happend or how to fix? I have a recovery disc but nothing is happening.
Can i remove the HDD and plug it into my desktop to get the photos off that the GF is upset about loosing?

Please help.

Many thanks

Hey guys, noticed this has had a fair few views but no replies  does anybody have any idea?

I have taken the hard drive out and plugged it into my desktop via sata cable but my PC is showing it as a unrecognized device and does not show it in the bios.
I tried going into device manager and searching for new hardware and it goes to update driver but fails saying it cant find one.

Am i doing something wrong or is it quite clear the hard drive is dead? I've never had a hard drive die before so I don't know what the symptoms would be as such.

Please help as the other half is bugging me to get this fixed and i really don't want to send it of to somebody to fix and get charged a arm and a leg.

Yup sounds like a duff drive to me.

Cost wise for repair its going to be the cost of a drive plus 45+ for a reinstall assuming you have no restore discs. From memory Samsung do not supply discs and also don't let you make back up media because in their cosy little world hard drives cannot die!.

I would say in most places you are are looking at 100+ for a repair, so I suggest get a drive yourself and install windows on your own. Once on just visit samsungs support page for the drivers and so on.
