As of this evening my S2 randomly decided it no longer wanted to recognise the sim card any more which is very annoying/ a massive as I am meeting my GF at the airport in 8 hours. I am hoping that a factory reset will sort things but first I want to back up everything I can but I am not sure what software to use (I am a complete Android noob).

I have installed GO Contacts EX to make a back up of my contacts on to my SD card but I am not sure if that has wored as no files are showing up on the SD card?? :confused:

Anyway, I am very stressed and can't think straight due to tiredness.
It would be massively appreciated if someone could me.

*edit*
The status on my S2 looks like this:
Phone number: Unknown
Network: Unknown
Signal strength: 0dBm 0asu
..
IMEI:: Unknown
Etc.

I have only had the phone exactly 5 months this week so do you think it would be best for me to deal directly with Samsung or go cia Vodafone as my insurance is with them. I did go in to Vodafone today and asked them, they basically said that it would probably be quicker with Samsung, Vodafone's turn around time is around 2 weeks.

Today a new error has been appearing;
Charging paused. Battery temperature too high or too low

This happens when i try to charge it either by USB or charger, the phone doesn't feel overly warm or 'cold' either:confused::confused:

Thanks a lot,
Flare

sync all you contacts with your gmail account and they will all be stored there.

Or download 'my backup pro' from the market - that app backs up everything to your sd card - apps, contacts, sms, etc.

Awh man, I have recently had a few applications stop unexpectadly; the keyboard software and Facebook Chat have problems quite frequently.

I have download My Backup Pro and backed everything up to the SD card.

Without Kies, is there anything I can do which may fix the problem? Ie, factory reset?

As far as I can tell, Whatsapp is still working so I don't want to do a factory reset incase it doesn't work when I reinstall it, so i'm just going to take it in to Vodafone tomorrow evening so they can send it off as I have it insured with them.

Your phone is broken and will need to be sent back to samsung, the same thing happened to Acemodder.

Thanks SB118 but I have to leave the house in a minute so wonb't have time for that so I will go in to vodafone and see what they say.

Locky, I know :(

It does turn out that I have a spare phone, a nice new Nokia N900 that I had completely forgotten about :D

Phone is toast internally, charge circuit is very likely damaged to see that error, get it sent off asap.

Right I will send it off tomorrow. Should i sent it via Vodafone as my insurance is with them or just direct to Samsung as it will still be under manufacture's warranty? I have had it for 5 months.
