So I went on Tridef's website and downloaded their checker and the result was:
"Congratulations, your graphics hardware and the currently connected 3D display are compatible with AMD HD3D Technology!"

It now give me the option to buy the software for half-price at $24.99...so I guess I'd need to buy it right? (But I guess I could always try the trail version first).

But I'm a bit worried about the part that the "Please note that this software can only be used on a single PC, so ensure that you install and activate on the intended PC only."...do they mean it can be only used on a single PC at a time, or do they mean it is motherboard bounded?

Edited:
Just realised I didn't need to get the Tridef...I just needed to download the Samsung SyncMaster 3D Game Launcher from their site. Had a quick run on L4D2, the 3D depth is FAR greater than the 2D-3D!

Gonna try Guild Wars 2 next. Strange thing is Guild Wars 2 is listed as supported on their site, but the launcher's scan is not picking it up. Guess I'll add it manually and try.

Install tridef from the cd which came with your monitor, which will install the licence, then upgrade via tri-def's site and you'll have no problems with trials and unsupported dvd formats etc.

Just tried Guild War 2 in 3D...something's not right.

Frame rate only around 30fps, GPU usage dropped from 99% to around 60%, and CPU usage dropped from around 45-50% down to 15%~...

Without 3D, I get 100fps in that same scene I'm testing.

Edited:
Disabled vsync and frame rate is sorted...

Sorry need some more information on this...

I ran the CD, and all it has included is an older version of the Samsung SyncMaster 3D Game Launcher...not sure where the license or whatever is. So if I wany to watch video in TriDef 3D, I'd need to buy the software?

Long story short...

http://www.tridef.com/download/Samsung-SyncMaster-3D-Game-Launcher-TriDef-3D-latest.html

Is the newest Samsung package from Tridef, you install it straight over the top of the old one, if you get any errors, then you uninstall the lot from 'start'>'all programs'>'Tridef 3D' uninstaller, then install the above package.
Actually I installed and using that right from the start.

I noticed Tridef has a 2D-3D feature as well...is that any better than Samsung's one on the monitor itself for say video files etc? Also, do I have to buy their software?

Tridef comes with the monitor, no need to pay unless you want the full unlocked media player, it will only play so much but if you pay for it, it will play some(not all) mkv's too, or if you want to watch/purchase movies from yabazam.com.

It's way better using proper 3D by the way:

He has more there and for proper 3D trailers:

Sorry for sounding stupid...but how do I watch this video in proper 3D with what I got? I tried the different 3D settings on my monitor, but none of it would turn this "double-vision" to 3D...

Also when you say "Tridef comes with the monitor", I don't get any of their media player...all I get with the Samsung package is only the SyncMaster 3D Game Launcher...

That's anaglyphic 3d and isn't supported by the monitor/glasses. It's been ages since I've used TriDef now that I can't remember, so I can't help with the second question.

Click the 3d settings on the video and go to side-by-side mode and go fullscreen.

Then on the monitor go to 3d mode and side-by-side and it should work. If it looks weird, switch the L/R change and it should be a lot better.

Depending on the game you might have to switch the L/R thing, one way is for depth going in and the other is for objects meant to pop out of the screen.

Yea I found the side-by-side setting and that did the trick on the side-by-side 3D videos on youtube.

Gonna have to try some 3D videos on PowerDVD. So do I need to look for side-by-side settings for 3D in PowerDVD as well?
