Merry xmas

I am in the process of purchasing a new monitor with my xmas credits.

I was inititialy looking at 27" 1440's but I stumbled across a review which threw ultrawides into the equation.

Now i know the popular response might be just get a 1440 32" ultrawide but there are 2 things stopping this....
1- cost (dont want to spend over £400 really)
2- My gpu (dont laugh its a radeon 7800 - will it handle what im looking at?)

Basically only play a mixture of wow,battlefield, Diablo 3

I dont need cutting edge 4k graphics, but I guess one question is would I notice a big difference between 1440 27" or the more immersive but only 1080 ultrawide.

Any help appreicated.

27" 1440

- will have a sharper image
- physical taller

29" 2560x1080

- more immersive as you see more at the sides and it is physically wider too
- will be less of a performance hit than 1440
- freesync, won't work with your current gpu but when you do eventually upgrade, it will be a nice bonus

Don't know about diable 3 or WOW but battlefield has great 21.9 support.

Can you recommend a gpu that will support fresync on this monitor that wont break the bank?

I am using a Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

A second hand 290 would be the best.

I don't think anything lower than that supports freesync in games.

WoW and D3 work just fine as they both have Ultrawide support, Well WoW has and D3 has kind of, You need to run D3 in windowed fullscreen mode -
