Hi Folks,

I have a problem with my Samsung s7 screen...when screen gets cold the bottom two thirds of the picture on the screen flickers, then disappears going black. The top one third of screen retains a perfect picture. If I heat screen up a bit with, say, a hairdryer, the full picture immediately returns and stays till the screen gets cold, then same problem occurs.

Not sure if this started to happen after being dropped. Quite a few people online with same mystery problem. Someone suggested a faulty connector block to screen.

Any help much appreciated.

Buy a new phone.

Why are you still using a 5 year old phone

I had a S7 Edge when it came out 5 years ago, Im not sure how you have managed to handle using it until now.

Get a 2020/2021 phone, it will be a world of difference and definitely worth it.

Very happy with my 5 year old phone until this fault developed and probably after dropping it. Made unemployed due to Covid and VERY short of money. A new phone is out of the question and a cheap repair is what I'm after at the moment, hence my post for sensible replies with suggestions.

Thanks for taking the time to reply...someone online suggested this...had an offer to disconnect and reconnect it for £30 so may well end up risking it if nothing else is suggested.

Cheers!

I would really like to know if you had your problem solved. I have the same issue and I'm thinking about opening my phone at home to work on the dodgy connector.

To get to that connector they have to undo the glue on the back. I expect they will not redo it.

It's going to be a damaged screen causing an intermittent fault. Seen plenty of s7 and s7 edge past my desk with similar symptoms.

Unfortunately it's a Samsung... a screen for an S7 edge is around £90.

If it was a 5 year old apple, the screen would have been £25...

Anyway... just replace it. Best option. Don't waste £30 on trying to fix it.
