Got an EE S9+ here that needs carrier unlocking (SM-G965F).
Anyone personally used any online sites for this sort of thing before?
Phone cant go back to EE as its from CEX so no idea where it came from originally but was bought locked from them.

Took into the local EE shop, because it wasn't originally my phone and I'm not named anywhere, nor an EE customer they wouldnt, so I was told anyway..

It's out of contract so EE should give you the unlock code for free. Just phone EE and give them the IMEI and state you would like the unlock code. No reason why they should not give a code either since the IMEI has not be registered lost or stolen, and it's been bought 2nd hand which is fairly standard a process.

The same applies to all UK network supplied phones.

I bought a ipad pro locked to EE from CEX, phoned up EE no issue at all unlocking it providing its over 6 months old, just had to pay them £8 and was unlocked within a few days, presume android might be even quicker may even give you code over phone?

Used a guy on eBay called Kevinlow82, £8.95 done next day, probably faster if it'd have been a week day.

I have a iPhone 6s on EE.

My partners has a Samsung Galaxy S9 on 02 network.

she is upgrading so I thought I would have hers. But need to have it unlocked I would think?

Your right. So it appear. From June 2018 I believe that came into effect.
Does not matter now. As tried my EE SIM in partners Samsung and works fine.

Ended up phoning EE. SIM only x12 months. Unlimited texts and calls and 100Gb data £20 pm.

does annoy me when they cannot look after existing customers. I’ve been with them 20 or so years. Came out of contract 2017 then been on a rolling month contract @£21 pm for 5gb data!!

You might want to check with BT when your next rolling month ends. They're the same network as EE and I recently switched from them and I got a £15/month 1 year sim-only contract with 30GB :)
