Im having a little trouble with this beautiful monitor. I cant get it to work on my system with the display port cable.
Works great with HDMI.
It goes black then turns itself off with the dp cable plugged in

Help anyone??
 
These monitors have issues with DP it has been mentioned a few times but it should work, just every now and agin it changes inputs.
 
Daft question but are you in dp mode on the monitor? If auto source is switched off then it may be sitting waiting for HDMI signal.
 
What graphics card do you have?

I've avoided buying this monitor (as much as I want one) because it seems to have major displayport issues, particularly with nVidia cards. The nVidia forums are full of people complaining that this particular monitor just won't work properly with their cards (goes black randomly, won't let them set 120hz, no image via dp at all unless it's also plugged in via HDMI etc). I think there may be problems with ATI/AMD cards too, though a lot of people have had no real issues with those. Hope you solve your problem!
 
Thank you for your responses, I will keep at it and hope I can resolve it. It's still a great screen even running as it is. However I would have bought a hazro if I'd not wanted the 120hz!
Why didnt o/c alert me to this issue? I did ask if there were any problems!!!

Haha, as dumb as I must have sounded none of the signatures seem to show on the reply page! Lesson learned though, need to click back next time :)

As for the DisplayPort issues, I think because there are people who have no major issues (aside from occasionally refusing to wake up from sleep mode) they might be assuming it's a manufacturer's fault that can be repaired under warranty or something. From what I've read though none of them have been "fixed" by being sent to Samsung.

The precise issue as I understand it is that the monitor reports its DisplayPort version as being 1.2, even though it is in fact only 1.1. This causes all manner of issues with various graphics cards, and in fact is no fault of nVidia's whatsoever really. Why it seems to work okay with AMD/ATI cards I'm not sure though.

Hi what annoyed mean is that i left a negative review of the monitor with 2 stars about this issue, and guess what? OCUK didn't list it, i think that is very bad giving customers a false impression. So never just go by the reviews customers have left and as OCUK seem to pick and choose.

Wait and see. The majority of users have no issues or only minor issues. Those with issues do seem to run Nvidia GPUs (like yourself) but you will hopefully only encounter the minor issues. Don't worry - just wait and see.
 
That's not much consolation to anybody who has just purchased one of these, especially if a revised edition is released in the near future with no problems on either brand of card.

I've just bought one, my current card is amd but what if my next is nvidia?

This is why I've hesitated so much to buy one, despite the price being a steal right now. When I buy a monitor I normally expect it to last a very long time (multiple PC's, so a good 4 years+). The S27A750D or 23" version don't seem like a great investment if there's no guarantee they'll even work with current hardware, let alone future hardware that doesn't exist yet :/ That's my opinion anyway.

I've currently got a 24" Samsung 245B, had this for many years now and it's still perfect... I'd expect its replacement to be of a similar standard!

It's the people who paid £500-£600 when they were first released that I feel sorry for. But Samsung really are terrible with communication and even internally there doesn't seem to be agreement with what is going on. They might not release a new version, I may have got the wrong end of the stick. I did raise this issue with several people who work for Samsung in various roles and there were plenty of 'shoulds' and 'hopefully' regarding addressing the issues. The first port of call in situations like this is possible driver level (Nvidia's end particularly) or firmware fixes (for the monitor) rather than replacement hardware so hopefully this will be how things are done.

unfortunately my issues were/are with an HD6970, so AMD, it doesn't seem as much problems since i sent it back to Samsung which is wierd, i expected them just to replace it!
 
Of course, I had meant to say most of those with major issues run Nvidia hardware. There are some issues on AMD hardware. Much less common and usually minor and occasional signal loss but in your case a bit more than that. So it is less frequent now than it was? You tried various cables (straight MiniDP to DP as well as MiniDP adaptor with) DP to DP cable didn't you?

Yeah i tried DP to mini DP and DP to DP with a DP to mini DP adapter, yeah its less problamtic now, which is wierd as i thought there was no way to fix the problem apart from getting another monitor and hopeing you get the luck of the draw!
But like i said this is the same one i sent off, but seems less frequent with the switching input issue:)
