Morning All,

I have been looking for a new monitor for a while, and after buying a xbox 360 a couple of weeks back, i have decided now is the time to get buy one :)

The one I have been mostly looking at the SM-215TW,

link to trustedreview ...

but I have a few questions that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere,

1) Does this have a PVA or S-PVA panel?
2) Does this panel have much ghosting / backlight bleeding?
3) I have heard it has input delay? Is it really that bad?

I am a web designer, and a gamer, that is pretty much all it will be used for, so do you think this is the right monitor for me? or should i go for the bigger / cheaper SM-225BW?

I am open to any other monitor suggestions you may have :)

Thank-you :p

EDIT:

I forgot to ask, does anyone know what a 360 looks like via componet on this monitor? It would be useful for my wii too, seeing as the 360 can plug in via vga anyways, cheers in advance

anyone?

the main question i'd like to know the answer to, is whether or not it is a PVA or a S-PVA panel, i'm thinking of ordering one today,if its a S-PVA i'll be ordering within the hour, so i can have it by tomorrow, cheers in advance :)

i have one more question about his monitor, quite a few people have been complaining about this monitor having an input lag / delay? has anyone else noticed this? and is it really all that bad? seeing as i'll be using this with my 360 i dont want it to lag behind ...

Cheers

Hi there. As you've already found out, it is a Samsung S-PVA panel (LTM210M2) rather than their previous PVA generation. I';ve not heard much about input lag on this model tbh, all TFT's seem to suffer from it a little, but it's in the region of 10ms typically, and i've never seen any adverse affects of it in the models I've tested personally. I think it's one of those things you can find if you go looking, and use a stop watch to record it compared with a CRT, but in practice, it's just not really an issue for most people.

The 215TW is a good screen, not quite as fast as some other 20" models available. See loads of user comments and review links here which might help :)

Thanks for your comments :)

Baddass, when you say ... "not quite as fast as some other 20" models available" does this mean your noticed any ghosting? I am currently using a 3 year old 16ms PackardBell TFT, I presume the fact that i can't notice any ghosting on this, i'll be fine with the 215TW? :)

Would you recommend the 215TW over the 225BW? ie. should i got for that extra inch (always nice :P) or the better panel?

Cheers

definitly go for the 215TW over the 225BW, I have a 215TW on my secoundry system, the IQ on them are first rate and the flexablilty of the stand somtimes comes in very handy, I've had three 225BW's and they've all had problems, first one loud buzzing noise, secound two very bad back light bleed, yes the panel has a little input lag but it's only something that you may notice if your a hardcore CSS fan, I'm a fan of fast online shooters and it did bother me yet all my friends that use it can't see what I'm talking about in regards to input lag but then I am a fussy bugger, if you are worried about the input lag I'd reccomend going for the Belinea 2225S1W 22" widescreen over the 225BW, I rarely hear a bad thing said about them, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-006-BE&tool=3 :)

thanks :)

the only thing i don't like about the Belinea 2225S1W 22" is that it only has one input, i could really do with two, because I'm wanting to run both my xbox 360 and my pc through it.

The reason I liked the look of the 215TW so much was the component and composite inputs, meaning I can also plug my wii in :)

After everything I have heard, it looks like the 215tw is the monitor for me.

cheers for all your comments ... :)
