Does this screen suffer the same problems as the 22" Pebble? -uneven backlight/bleeding? Has the Samsung SM245B got a height adjustable stand? Similar levels of height adjustment to a Philips 200W6CS needed.

It does have a height adjustable stand, don't know the exact height it can achieve but the Samsung site will tell you.

On mine there is noticable bleed at the bottom and top of the panel when there is a black background however it is even and doesn't effect normal viewing.

I'm deciding if I should use my 40" 1920x1080 Samsung as the PC monitor/gaming screen, or have a 24" For the 24" can you disable dynamic contrast?- on the 40" it's blooming annoying

I assume your talking about the M87? Ive got that TV sitting next to my 24" sammy. I dont think there is dynamic contrast on the 245B, only MagicColor which is off by default. I dont use my sammy hdtv as a monitor just because it would sit too close - I have used it as a second monitor though to watch films/tv on VLC and it looks really good but as a primary monitor its overkill for my setup.

I've just bought one (see my thread further down) and so far so good.

It's not 'thin' - a good 3 inches thick and the whole stand feels a bit plasticy but the main thing on any screen are the pixels and i find them to be fine - sharp pictures, no bleeding as far as i'm aware of, and fast response time.

I wouldn't ever use a tv as a monitor; the brightness will give you headaches and the top and bottom of the screen will be cut off probably due to overscan.

I would happily recomend the samsung to anyone. 24" is such an improvement over 20" or even 22"!

Yea Bouncer is right, the brightness would be a killer even on level 1 on the M87. I got my 245B yesterday and im very happy with it, its a vast improvement over my 22" Belinea which is now my secondary screen. Only negative so far is the stand isn't stiff enough and wobbles when you press any of the OSD buttons (in comparison to my Neo-Flex stand that my Belinea is now on).

There is no overscan with a M87, backlight is adjustable so at 0 it's fine. 1920x1080 resolution.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind :)

If you do decide to get a seperate monitor then the 245B is a good choice in my opinion and it goes nicely with the M87.

I have ordered a 245. Picture of 40" Samsung in desktop, 1920x1080...no overscan

Nice one!

Yea my M87 has no overscan problems either, my PC runs fine over VGA at 1080p.

You should post some pics up of your setup when you have connected up, I will be posting some pics of my setup in the Games forum at the weekend hopefully.
