If I do a complete SS data transfer between old and new Samsung devices. Should I untick Contacts as I remember last time (some time ago) I got duplicate numbers from the SIM card. Or should I make sure the contacts are on phone only. Is there any advice on best way to migrate Whats App info too as there appears to be two methods. Silly question too (I'm sorry) as to when to transfer SIM. Thanks .

It depends on if you've been saving contacts to the SIM or the phone I think. I usually save everything to the phone so I transferred contacts as well. You can always try doing it without and transfer contacts afterwards if you need to.
Regarding Whatsapp I tend to use its own back up to restore it.
