Samsung Smart TVs to Launch iTunes Movies

SEOUL, Korea – January 6, 2019 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.announced today it will offer iTunes Movies and TV Shows and Apple AirPlay 2 support on 2019 Samsung Smart TV models beginning this spring.
Support on 2018 Samsung Smart TVs will be made available via firmware update. In an industry first, a new iTunes Movies and TV Shows app will debut only on Samsung Smart TVs in more than 100 countries.
AirPlay 2 support will be available on Samsung Smart TVs in 190 countries worldwide.

Looks like older 2018 models will also get this iTunes update

Given apple want to get into media (exacerbated by recent stock shock+china) they need to do something to reduce the entry cost into that, from the £150 tv box,
they also announced a cheaper stick/box
.... are there really any hardware or remote-control obstacles, to them providing an app, for agnostic roku or shield, or other tv's.
maybe they don't have the scalability on their cloud media delivery though.

If anything, from the good deals on their movie costs, maybe they are subsidising those with the £150 (having a laugh) tv box.
