Samsung Story 1.5tb - DEAD :(

Got one of these a little over 2 months ago and used it for the second time yesterday to transfer over 700gb of data. Unfortunately, later last night I went to switch it on and nothing. The light at the front doesn't come on and the drive doesn't power up. I tried changing the fuse but that didn't make a difference. I'm not 100% convinced the HD itself has gone, I think I might have unplugged it before it powered down and possibly blown something in the powersupply?

Annoyingly I had planned to get a another HD this weekend to back up this drive to but now I'm wondering if I can take the HD out of it's enclosure and link it up to my pc? I know this will void the warranty, but will it just link up like a standard HD?

It will probably be a normal SATA drive inside, some external drives don't have a SATA controller and just have a USB one but this isn't too common.

Yeah, almost certainly it's just got a normal 3.5" SATA drive in there. You shouldn't have any trouble at all plugging this in to your PC.

Thanks guys, be a shame to lose all that data. I know I should have backed up sooner but I wasn't expecting it to die this quick! Just goes to show.
