Has anyone seen or heard anything about this new (ish) model? I've read the blurb about it's 97% CCFL reproduction and all the other specs, but am yet to see a hands-on review of one.

I need to get a 19" monitor for the 'rents and seeing as my old man is getting well into his photography, something that will give accurate results (once calibrated with the appropriate hardware device) seems like the best bet. I've seen the 931C for around £230 (+/-) and just wondering if anyone had any info on the panel it uses or any other useful titbits.

Specs can be found by clicking below.

Hi there

Is this better than the 931BW? Just we can get these 931C's too at a similar price. Which is better?

Has anyone been able to get their hands on one of these babies yet :p

I need a personal review to sway me into parting with my cash?

:D :D :D

CONCLUSION

The 931c is a decent monitor with rich, natural colours, but it isn't a knockout, and its subtle qualities may be lost on many people. It's also fairly expensive for a 19in 4:3 monitor, with a street price that puts it near 20.1in 16:9 territory. If it used an 8-bit panel to complement its improved backlight, it might be worth it but, as it stands, we much prefer the bigger, brighter widescreen image of a similarly-priced 20.1in or 22in TFT.

I decided after reading up on the limited amount of conjecture about this monitor to dive in and grab one from OcUK whilst its on offer. I guess somebody had to right? :p

The CustomPc review is pretty much bang on. It is extremely bright out of the box but a bit quick of calibration and spending some time sat at the monitor means you quickly get used to it. Colors are rich and vibrant, response time in games feels fine. There is some backlight bleeding especially at the top and bottom but this isn't noticeable in general use.

I wish I could say something that could be a deal breaker for the people who are comparing this to other similar monitors. I've come from having a Samsung 710T 17" monitor (I remember when people were going nutso about its spiritual forefather the Samsung 172x) driven by an Asus x800xt PE. That monitor came just before stuff like Overdrive and grey to grey measurements for response times were commonplace so I don't really have a good comparison point to base my opinions on.

Am I happy with the monitor? So far yes. I don't have the setup to drive something like a Samsung 226BW at decent frame rates and I don't fancy the loss of vertical resolution from a 19" Widescreen so this filled my niche pretty well.
