Anyone have any experience with this monitor?

I'm looking on buying this for my pc. I will mainly use it gor gaming at 1920x1200 resolution. I'm looking for perfect quality and no stuttering or jagged or lagg. I will also use this to watch TV which is a bonus.

I'm currently using my Samsung Syncmaster 2233RZ 22" monitor but I'm giving that to my brother as I would like something bigger.

I basically want something amazing quality to run my games and say WOW...
If anyone can recommend me something else then that would be appreciated.

Budget is £300-400

Cheers

I bought a Samsung T260 (without the TV tuner) a year ago and then bought another earlier this summer as I like it so much. Fantastic picture for both games and video.

I have the T240HD, you will definitely love the 26"

Has everything you need + excellent picture.

As long as you have your own speakers, you won't need to use the tinny TV ones (okay @ tv)

Do you play games at 1080p 1920x1200 resolution?

Hows the games quality on it? is it worth it? or would you recommend me something else?

Yeah, I do intend to use my own speakers.

I'm currently running games through a Samsung LE32B550 32" tv (1920x1080) which I purchased for £400. I love it to be honest. Not so sure about using it as your only display though, as I run it dual screen.

I'm not going to Dual screen, however, do you use that for everyday use?

If so, how is it? Because I do want to get blind as I'll be sitting real close to it on my desktop.

And gaming wise - How is it?

Gaming wise I love it. I'm sure some people will be able to pick fault with it, but gaming on such a big screen is great to me. No perceptible input lag or motion trails to me. And £400 isn't earth shattering compared to a "real" 30"+ monitor.

I quite often use it as my primary display for casual net surfing, but I would imagine it would be a bit extreme for word processing/desktop work. And the colours wouldn't be great if you did photo/video editing.

But then again, I've seen a lot of people on the net who use similar TVs as primary monitors and love them. I guess it's horses for courses really. Some people would find it great, some people would find it silly to use a biggish tv as a sole monitor.

Sorry, probably haven't helped much ;)

I'm also an LCD TV user, and also have a propper "monitor" as a second screen. Valleyman is spot on that sometimes the colours appear better on the monitor than the tv but if you didnt have them sitting next to eachother to compare you'd never notice. If you are going to use an LCD TV for a monitor try and get one thats 100Hz and make sure its a propper 1920x1080 resolution. Personally I like Samsung for this, but LG is also very good, a few of their screens are just 5ms or below.
I've had mine for about 5 years now, only 1360x768 and 50hz and 8ms.. yet i've gamed with it loads and I find it just as good as any other screen would be at that resolution. Sooo tempted by the LED Sammys now!!

Hey realscot, out of curiosity, why would you recommend 100hz?

I keep seeing them around but can't see any noticeable difference 99% of the time. Infact only time I ever noticed it was when I was in John Lewis and they were showing football on a 50hz screen and a 100hz screen next to each other. Stand alone, not sure I could tell.

Valleyman, I've read some reviews on that Samsung LE32B550 32" and just wanted to say if you've had any problems installing it with the base?

And one more thing, one reviewer said:

"Had the TV for a couple of weeks now and have found a few rather annoying problems. When the TV works with the computer if the computer goes into power save mode then the TV goes blank and won't show the computer screen again even when you play with the mouse to get the computer going again. Also if you turn off the comuter the TV will go blank and I can't get a picture. I have to turn off and back on the TV to get back to a TV picture. These are small things but rather annoying and silly. Sumsung should have done a better job."

Wonder if you've had the same problems?

I will use it for PC only. The TV tuner is appropriate to me though and I will be using it.

No problems with installing it. Don't see why there would be?

As for that review, yeah, it's true. It's a tv, not a monitor, so it doesn't have a "sleep" mode. Basically you have to turn the tv off and on again to get the picture back. This is the same as pretty much every tv out there, if it loses signal it goes into a powered down mode. I've never had sleep mode activated on my PC though, so can't say its ever been an issue for me.

Thanks for making it clear for me Valleyman!

I guess I'm opting for the T260HD now as it's more of an Ideal choice for me.

You've made a good input in my decision. Cheers mate.

t260HD is awsome the contrast/brightness is amazing for games at 1920x1200! got mine for 144 quid! bargain of the year :D
