Anyone else looking forward to this?
http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-tab-pro-s/

Been anxiously awaiting for release and cost ...

This is the type of 2n1 I have been waiting for. My wife loves her TabS (version 1) and it has a great screen, light etc ...
I wanted one myself but I want windows ...

and the tabpro s has it.

The one thing I dont like about it is ... only 4 gigs of ram wish it had 8.

I waited a long time for the surface 4 thinking it would be great. They really didnt make it that much thinner; just barely and its still too bulky for taking it around IMO.

surface has a better keyboard and a decent pen; but thicker and most likely worse running time~

also the tabpro s is supposed to have LTE so you dont need to use your phone as a mobile hotspot etc ...

Again I will most likely get this unless some really poor reviews or some outrageous price.
lots of youtube vids out there of it but only of sample models at shows

i think they both look great
i use a tab s a lot and i personally think it has a nicer screen than any laptop i have used

i do think 4gb in windows 10 is an issue tho, thats only a few tabs in chrome
if its a lot of money its hard to justify it with 4gb

& can see the tabpro being over $1000 :(
might have to wait a year or 2 for them to be a sensible buy

I still dont use windows 10 yet ... so only a few windows in chrome with 4 gigs? errr thats not good. Let along programs open.

with my dell xps 13 Im typing this on I have 32 windows in chrome open with 8 gigs and at home with my desptop I have literally 95+ windows open in chrome (32 gigs) ...

anyways as POB pointed out huawei matebook was just announced and looks quite interesting also. But to be honest I still like the idea of the samsung. The thing with the matebook is that there appears to be a smaller edge ie smaller tablet for the screen; however you say that. Samsungs is slightly thinner thou.

Really wish samsung would figure out how to put 8 gigs of ram in there. Still havnt seen anything about release date - everyone talked about feb - but feb is almost over.

I've been using a Toshiba Click 10 for awhile and 2GB of RAM hasn't been an issue for most uses aslong as you don't leave too much stuff running in the background unnecessarily.

Windows 10 has a lot of issues as a tablet OS though - its a lot less as an experience than even 8.1 IMO :S so much stuff hasn't been thought through properly. (More often than not I end up picking up my older Windows 8 tablet as it just provides a better experience and I don't even like Windows 8). (Its a shame because it could have been so good but MS seem to be stubbornly sticking to some really pants on head retarded ideas and rather than just admit they got it wrong when they are finally forced to make changes they do some silly special casing instead of properly fixing it).

EDIT: Really loving these tablet hybrids though OS aside - can't wait to see future evolutions.

ya Ive been waiting for a thin windows tablet for ages - was suggested the dell oh forgot its name now was going to be it ... but turned out to not be good. and the surface is just too big IMO. Great if you are not going to cart it around much; but for someone like me that wants a tablet that can function like a laptop when I want - these sounds like a better option. I want to read a book when I want; browse the net on the train and when Im at work look at stock charts etc (so want to use the keyboard). My xps 13 while decently light only gives me the last option at a heavier weight.

again my wife loves her tab s and the screen looks great.

is that using chrome tho or edge?
edge uses a lot less and doesnt keep pages open or whatever
edge = no adblock tho, i cant stand that

if it has a fast ssd maybe we wont notice it running out memory anyway *shrug* might be fine - still original point a lot monies for 4gb ><

and yeh you got to rly NEED windows to choose one these over a tab s2 or something
& if its spectre 13 money, the new one with the oled screen id rather have that i think

I use firefox for web browsing - it does eat a lot of RAM and 4GB would be more comfortable but Windows 8/10 manage it quite well.

The eMMC on these devices (assuming it doesn't have a proper SSD) tend to have decent read performance but rather poor write speeds :(

Thing is with a tablet you really want to be able to just pick it up and go and to be frank both IOS and Android do that better but I like to have a full desktop to hand - with a bit of configuring 8 can mostly fulfil that though a little light on the app front if you need that - but 10 really falls down especially because of the forced Windows Update stuff - even on the normal update ring I've had waaay too many times of picking up the Windows 10 tablet to find its decided to do some updates and turning to my older Windows 8 one instead to actually do something instead of staring at an update screen :S (or its kicked in at some point and killed my battery, etc.).

I was waiting for the Samsung TabPro S but now considering the Huawei as well. Currently have a desktop PC but I don't do any gaming on it and nothing else that requires top end specs so looking at a 2-in-1 tablet to replace it and my ageing Android tablet.

They are both extremely thin and light. Both have proper SSD drives, eMMC is only for cheaper Atom based devices.

Samsung TabPro S:
- 12" sAMOLED display will be stunning
- 290.3x198.8x6.3mm (693g)
- large 5,200mAh battery (I think... not sure compared to SP4)
- GPS and LTE available
- Type C USB 3.1
- front and rear auto-focus camera
- only 2 configs though Core m3 + 4GB RAM + 128/256GB SSD

Huawei MateBook
- 12" IPS display
- 278.8x194.1x6.9mm (640g) - lighter and thinner bezels
- smaller 4,430mAh battery
- No GPS or LTE
- Type C USB 3.1
- Fingerprint sensor
- only a front camera that is fixed-focus
- more configs available Core m3-m7 + 4GB/8GB RAM + 128/256GB/512GB SSD

They both only have 1 USB port though, not even a dedicated video-out. Need to buy USB dock which may not be ideal.

Will see what the price difference is between the two but expecting the Samsung to be more expensive than the equivalent Huawei model.

the more i see of the matebook the more i like it
looks nicer than the samsung, fingerprint reader on the side was a good add

all metal instead of plastic,
looking like a big premium for the samsung screen >.<

I agree if it wernt for the amoled screen and the LTE ability of the samsung Id def get the matebook. Samsung having those things makes the decision harder. If samsung had 8 gigs of ram it would be a no-brainer.

Well I pretty much scour the net day to day looking for new news or a release date and just came across this:

http://shop.samsung.com/uk/samsung-galaxy-tab-pro-s-wifi-black-288295/

Stocks are available from the 16th of March

wifi version ... 849 pounds
Im going to assume thats for the 128 gig HD.

I agree with some other posters if I was going for a wifi version Id be looking closer at the matebook (more condensed and better options as far as more ram or bigger ssd).

Least we got a date thou - 16th of march - 849 still feels a bit steep thou; especially with 4 gigs of ram. So what we can get a tab s for 399.

They are pricing it according to the pricing of the apple and surface pricing ...

That's a disappointing price, even compared to SP4 on Microsoft website:

SP4 M3/4GB RAM/128GB SSD -£749
SP4 i5/4GB RAM/128GB SSD -£849

Samsung does have SAMOLED and slimmer design but still... wonder if they include any accessories

ya see it includes the keyboard so pretty much inline with the surface but again you get more options with the surface and the pen is supposed to be much better on the surface. Also Ive heard their keyboard is really good on the surface and only just okish on the samsung (although this was just from precursory reviews on the net).

Good that the keyboard is included but I've heard that the pen isn't whereas it is included in the Surface Pro4. So I guess it depends on which accessory is more important to your usage and how much Samsung will charge for the pen.

Wonder if I can get a bundle with the S7 phone :p

Shall wait for reviews of this and the Huawei Matebook

Been a couple youtube ~ reviews in german - more like promotions. I cant speak german so just see how it is. Looks a bit flimsy the keyboard and tablet.

One thing its really thin but that doesnt take into count the keyboard cover that you put on the backside so this will make it thicker to carry around. While the surface doesnt have a backside cover it uses the stand attached to the device.

Like to see some reviews comparing the surface pro 4 and the tabpro s to each other.
Im still undecided - prob going to get one once they come out with a LTE version but well see.

The smoled screen is better obviously I had a look at a surface over the weekend and if you tilt the surface away from you the screen tends to fade - while with the samoled screen this doesnt happen - ie looking at it from the side.

Thanks for the Youtube link. Like you, only to get a better look at it (tried the subtitle/CC auto-translate... was useless )

The display is definitely the highlight and a major selling point but don't Samsung know it! 4GB RAM is really a major show stopper for me though otherwise almost perfect (except the video-out via USB-C, not convinced that will work well).

Will wait for the Huawei Matebook reviews. From what I've read so far the display is very good for IPS and the remaining specs are more than a match for the Samsung. Only the keyboard seems pretty bad.
