Samsung the First FreeSync Display?

And to confirm, I played BF4 last night with the MLG guys on 3 cards and the new maps and it was complete silk with G-Sync.

No I believe it's called G for graphics sync. It's the GPU does the work.

Nope, you got it all wrong. The GPU just sends the data to the monitor. The gysnc unit has a memory buffer and a hardware controller that allows asynchronous updating. This unit changes the refresh rate of the monitor to whatever is coming in from the GPU.

Freesync works exactly the same, the only difference is the hardware controller is on the video card and it uses the video card ram to buffer.

Andybird is spot on, the gsync (afaik the g is for GeForce) module decides what frames to use from the gpu and at what time they're displayed, iirc it's all explained in one of Tom Petersens early gsync videos. The gpu will spit out frames as usual, only as per with vsync it stops at the defined refresh rate, everything else is managed via the gsync module.

Likewise, I'll try some of the vanilla maps when I get chance and see of those as as smooth.
Whilst im not using a gsync monitor, played some bf4 last night and i gotta say it was running very nicely. No idea if its new drivers or the latest patch, but its certainly better.
