Nvidia Corp. will use Samsung Electronics’ manufacturing capacities to produce graphics processing units, according to a media report. The move will help Nvidia to increase performance of its GPUs without boosting their power consumption.

When Nvidia revealed earlier this year that it will use Samsung’s services to build its chips, it was unclear whether the company will order manufacturing of graphics processors or application processors. According to a report from KoreaTimes, Samsung will make GPUs for Nvidia using its 14nm FinFET manufacturing process.

Samsung’s 14nm fabrication technology will help Nvidia to pack significantly more execution units inside its GPUs, which will substantially increase its performance.

I would imagine there going to be producing Tegra/low powered devices but it would cool if they could start producing full fat high end discrete GPU's as well.

Oh do I... Lol.

The thread title is taken direct from the article the thread is about.

It's up to the reader to decide if it's rumor / fud etc. I imagine most are intelligent enough to do this for themselves :p

It was not attack or criticism, people do take the wrong end of the stick which is comes to story's like this. I'm seeing on other sites comments like "not going to happen as Samsung is buying AMD" or along those lines. A rumour again taken as fact.

I for one would love to Nvidia (or anyone else) use Samsung’s 14nm process. Considering how long GPU's have been on TSMC's 28nm, the failure of 20nm and a big question mark still on their 16nm process.

Samsung have a working 14nm SOC in the market now I wouldn't think it take all that much work on top of that ground work and make GPU's on the process. Then again I’m expert and know little beyond the basics with the semiconductor world.

My heart is saying 14nm GPU's YAY, my head however is saying 14nm Tegra GPU's. At least for a while

Ha, yeah no worries. I'm with you would love to see 16/14nm FinFet Nvidia cards. I'm doubtful though, could be Tegra.

Tbh none of us have a real clue what's coming, we can only speculate. We've been waiting for a die shrink for far to long imho. What Nvidia's Maxwell has achieved on 28nm is impressive, but just makes me think what could be achieved on 16nm/14nm..

Can't come quick enough !!
