Hey all, Just got this display. Having to use hdmi from laptop atm (30hz) until my new computer arrives. Everything works fine and 4k resolution 30hz works. But text is jaggy.

If I go into the menu on the monitor and goto information it shows 1920x1080 but I have it set up using a custom resolution and it is definitely running at 4k ?

Ive tried turning sharpness to 100% which is better but the text looks very jaggy

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Doesn't sound like it's at 4k if the monitor isn't reporting the correct resolution.

Go to your graphics settings and don't allow any upscaling.

Edit: What laptop model is it? It might not even support 4k over HDMI. If it's an onboard GPU then I thought only the Intel 4400/4600 (Haswell) chipsets had 4k output via HDMI.

Intel graphics does not support dual-link, therefore 1920x1200 is the maximum for DVI and HDMI, 2560x1440 is only possible with a displayport port. This is stated in every specification sheet.
- That applies to Ivybridge and down (3000/4000)

its a qosmio f750 , gt540m. Now going to work, will disable upscaling when get home. Strange as the custom res is working fine(size wise) but monitor doesnt obviously think it is?

Hmmm, well that does have HDMI 1.4a so should theoretically support 4k resolutions.

You got the latest drivers? I don't think Nvidia really enabled it properly until 2013.

It's an older card though - 2011.

ive fixed it, in custom resolution I set the timing to gtf. Anyone know what this should be as theres multiple options? thanks!

May need to make sure its running in fullrange RGB mode over HDMI also some of those 4K panels have some kind of "clear vision" or similar function that can make text look jagged - on the AOC its behaviour is changed via the volume down button not sure on the Samsung.
