Samsung UHD evolution kit: SEK-3500U/XC

This is really just a heads up for people with 2013/2014 Samsung TVs. The UHD evolution kits (SEK-3500U) were notoriously difficult to get hold of originally, however I'm now seeing lots of them appearing in UK vendors.

I've just set mine up with a UE65HU7500 and the installation was a breeze. I've now got 4x HDMI 2.0 ports, updated software, HDCP2.2 compatibility, VP9 support and can finally watch 4k videos via AmazonPrime/Youtube/Netflix etc. The picture quality also seems to have improved. Not cheap at around £370, but cheaper than me buying a new TV.

lol @ nearly £400. I'd rather stick that £400 in the bank for my next upgrade.

I think that's a fair point. But my upgrade would have been more than 10x that amount, so this is a cheap stop-gap!

Lol what .... mine was built in on my 40" 6550 tv . The usb drive with 5 films worked a charm

And the tv cost me £408 new

Yes, I don't think this would be a sensible option to use on a TV of similar value -- that kind of goes without saying! I'm really happy with it so far, it's given my 65" Samsung a new lease of life.
