Samsung warranty question

Hi guys,

Today my normally reliable Samsung Syncmaster 245B just decided to lose it's picture (the power light is still on but the panel is dead).

I bought this is October 2007 from OcUK (so as far as I can tell from Samsung website the warranty is 3 years) but my question is, how likely is it they will replace it or do they just repair it?

Also what is people's experience with Samsung's warranty? Are they normally helpful and are they normally quick about it?

Thank's in advance.

I spoke to samsung support tomorrow and when I was asking for a swap out with my SM2433, they said they will have to look up the exact model code and serial number to see if they can warrant a swap out OR a repair. Luckily mine is onsite swap out so it's probably best to just ring. Here is the number: 0845 SAMSUNG

Well they were nice on the phone, sorted out a delivery of a replacement...except the replacement that has just came is a VERY poor refurbished one. Dusty as hell (inside & out) covered in fingermarks all over including the screen, dead pixel right in the middle that will **** me off, covered in what can only be described as spillage marks, and like someones hands were wet and/or dirty and its covered in them.

So annoyed but don't know if I can complain to them or not...

Probably worth trying to complain to them. I mean, you wouldn't accept that if it was purchased new, would you? You're a paying customer and you're within warranty.

True, although I know that Sony PS3 warranties specifically say that if your PS3 has a manufacturing fault within its warranty period, Sony reserve the right to replace it with either a new or a refurbished one. So it could have theoretically and literally taken a beating from its previous owner, and Sony may changed a few parts within it. Complete bull money making corporate giants as usual. Samsung's warranty will most certainly be the same.

Yep, it doesn't surprise me. They are within the law to do that as it's most certainly under the warranty terms and conditions. The funny thing is that Samsung are proud of their 0% dead pixel policy *laughs hysterically*
Although most, if not all manufacturers will have similar or identical warranty terms and conditions, I suggest for your next purchase you buy something from a reliable brand that's going to last you AT LEAST 5 years. The U.S military use Dell and NEC monitors so there you go. :)

Oh and you can try and complain, but it'd be futile. They're within the law and they're not going to budge mate.

Cheers for the replies guys. I cleaned it up myself (took a while) and I guess I'll have to just live with the dead pixel because to be honest I just can't be arsed with the hassle of complaining, letters, phone calls, couriers picking up/dropping off etc etc

NVM learnt my lesson.

I got a Samsung as a refurb that wasn't in great condition, phoned them up and they were very apologetic and said it shouldn't be like that, and I got another one the next day. Give them a call.

Yeah it can't hurt to give it ago. I imagine they try and fob off some of their poorer condition refurbished models as warranty replacements in the hope they'll be accepted, but if people actually complain they'll replace it with a better one.

There should be a law against that

I love the fact that were very apologetic yet they knew what they were doing. God I miss the good old days when companies flogged you crap but didn't apologise for it :D

Call them, they have helped people out in this situation before, IIRC it is a problem with their distributor sending out crappy refurbs unchecked.
