Hi,

I am after some advice here. I bought a Samsung G7 16 months ago. 2 weeks ago I was using the monitor and went into the kitchen to make a tea, when I returned the monitor was off. I thought it had gone into standby but I found that it no longer had any power.

I done the usual troubleshooting steps but nothing worked so I contacted Samsung as the monitor had 24 months warranty with the manufacturer.

After 2 hours of basic diagnosis with Samsung they wanted to send it off for repair, that's fine I had the original box so they picked it up, after about 10 days I had a call from the repair centre saying it has liquid damage!?

The monitor has never been any liquid and they sent me pictures that to me looked like condensation build up within the internals of the monitor.

They have refused to repair it unless I pay which I refuse to do because it's never been near any liquid.

I raised a complaint but some numpty called me back and just flat out refuse to help me in any way.

I don't suppose there is a lot I can do but I thought I would post and vent my frustration.

I was thinking of contacting trading standards as I believe this to be unfair but I wondered what others opinion was on this situation.

Obviously I am now without a monitor, I can borrow one but am not in a position to purchase a new one when I only got 16 months use out of this. What a crap situation but it annoys me because when I boxed up the monitor it was bone dry!!

this is basically Samsung's standard warranty process.
There standard warranty process is to outright lie??

They quoted me more to repair it then a new one costs and wasn't interested in anything I had to say either, they have now disposed of my monitor as well so I have no way forward at all now.

It will be the last (and was the first) Samsung product I buy that's for sure.

When I refused to pay £600 for the repair (yes £600!!) I said no thanks and the fact I wasn't happy as it's a down right lie, the next email I got back was they has disposed of the monitor!

Yes, so after trying to get Samsung to do anything with this they just won't do anything!

I have spent hours on the phone and live chat. I just don't have the time or patience to continue with these scammers.

I could take this further but to be honest with the kids, work and other stuff going on it's really eaten away at my time.

I am absolutely livid though and if it wasn't for work lending me monitor I would have be been without a PC.

I will never touch Samsung again and I will make sure all my family never uses then either.

Just an absolute scam company 16 months is unacceptable for a product to break in the first place let alone be told a lie when warranty repair is required.

My son has my old Asus monitor it's worked for years and years!
