Samsung washing machine and Sharp dryer problems

The gremlins have been in fiddling with my appliances. On top of this, the heating element in the oven went pop yesterday too!

Firstly, the washing machine. It’s a Samsung Ecobubble 10Kg WW10N645RBX/EU. It gets heavy use with about 2-3 loads per day. It started making this noise…

I checked behind the door seal to see if anything was trapped but couldn’t find anything. Pulled the machine out and thought the noise was coming from the rear, so the back was whipped off.

There is a squeak/grind coming from where the belt attaches to the motor. I also noticed a black dust deposited, which looks to be off the belt, but the belt looks perfectly healthy.
Have a listen…

I had to cut that video short because my index finger went through the gap in the spokes of the wheel on the back of the drum. I have just arrived home from A&E with a 5mm shorter finger. :D

Anyway, as I said, the belt looks perfectly healthy. I assumed the noise coming from it is the cause of the whirring sort of noise whilst on full spin, but I ran a spin cycle with the back off and I don’t think the noise is from the belt. Sounds like it is coming from the side with the motor, but its difficult to tell as the machine chassis reverberates all the sounds, and their source soundos like it comes from a different place depending on where your ears are. Is it possible the shaft from the motor is off centre? I wouldn’t have thought so given it’s girth. I don’t think the bearing in the motor is the culprit either as it feels smooth when turning slowly. Thoughts?

Next up, the dryer. It’s a Sharp heat pump KD-HHH957GW2. It runs fine but the legibility of the numbers on the display has decreased and repeatedly mid-cycle it will beep and flash like so…

So, after 3 failures and a partial amputation I’m now admitting defeat and asking for help. Thank you!

obviously the washers not under warranty ...
you're sure the belt hasn't jumped in/out a notch on the motor drive, so maybe trying to move laterally.
there's no play in the pulley on the tub - are the spindles not parallel
did you try to clean off the belt residue - detergent & toothbrush not IPA.

The washer motor is under a 10 year warranty but the rest isn’t. I bought it from Costco in 2019. I might give them a call to see what they say, their CS is usually phenomenal.

I did consider if the belt had slipped but the adjacent grooves showed no signs of ever having been used, so I ruled that out. Pulley on the tub is solid and looks to be true.

I’ll give the belt a clean to see if that helps, but I do think the offending noise is coming from elsewhere.

You need to test the drum bearings first, as you said the noise is from the rear. That noise sounds like worn shocks and drum bearings - but it could be the motor bearings too.

Your motor might have a 10 year guarantee, but does it cover labour costs? I've heard of machines with parts only guarantee, but you have to pay for the engineer visit.

Have you slipped of the belt to see if manually rotating drum it makes a noise (I'd probably use a small bit of hardwood under drum pulley to derail that)
or does noise only occur when drum is in a particular place (need a high fps phone camera !)
