Samsung wont play MKV files

Samsung TV's (assuming that's what you're referring to), for a long while now, have been able to handle .mkv. Your issue is most likely video and/or audio codec used. Your options are either to convert the whole thing or, using software like mkvtoolnix, extract the offending format and change its codec. The latter option will lead to a higher quality conversion.

Tell us what device you're using and give us a mediainfo log of your mkv, that way we can best advise you.

Are you using Plex with your TV? I think it would work with Plex. I've also noticed h265 plays on my old wdtv going through plex media server.

I use PLEX server to transcode H265, which then play faultlessly through the PLEX client app on my Sammy H6400, which can't play them natively.

as suggested try using a cheap bluray player.

most modernish samsung tvs will play them.its only older versions that dont.

many media cheapish devises you can buy which will just play via numerous methods.or buy a newer tv.
