As the title says, not sure how reliable the verge is, but this is going to need a Radeon 7k to power it!
Unless Nvidia do a refresh with updated display engine on the 4k series.

Would love to see a refresh over the 172Hz of the AW3423DW on this considering DP2.1 should be more than capable.
But even so, my AW still feels faster than it's actual refresh rate, likely just the pixel latency.

It's half 8k resolution and won't need a Radeon 7k to power it.
Radeon 7k is unlikely to max out DP1.4 frame cap as it is, don't buy into the make believe advertising

Shame it's not QD-OLED, although, even if it was I wouldn't have space for it

afaik it'll be QLED

A shame

That's correct, it's not a 8k monitor.

The proper name for this resolution is: 32:9 2160p Ultrawide

This resolution contains 16 million pixels, real 8k contains 32 million pixels.

I've calculated that DP1.4 using DSC would be able to drive this monitor at 144hz, higher than 144hz would require DP 2.1
