samsung yh-999 and vista?

hi, my friend has a sammy yh-999 ad and vista ultimate edition, he has a shedlaod of DVDs ripped to divx and is trying to put them onto the portable media center, unfortunately, it says that it can't do it and comes up with an error saying that it needs to be converted, this worked fine in XPMCE (he's running 32bit ultimate)
