Samurize Type thing on linux

Just looking at some screenshots and i see THIS which appears to have some samurize like script in the bottom corner.

How is this done on linux? I'll be using ubuntu.

looks good, but being a total newbie to linux, id rather stick to a windows like desktop untill i start learning more complex stuff. That just looks confusing

Actually, you might like to try gdesklets (looks like a new homepage) which should be available in Ubuntu, which can give a nice look to your desktop (although I tend to prefer fairly minimal / spacious nowadays

). I found a nice screenshot gallery, too
