san andreas skips cutscenes by itself

i recently upgraded my pc and dug out san andreas for another go as I lost my save when i originally got it and cudnt be bothered to re-do the game.

Anyway, as the title says i have cut scene problems. when i go into the red circle marker to enter a mission, i see about 1seconds worth of the cut scene then it auto skips, as though I have pressed escape. i have the latest ati driver and all other games work fine. I can't find anything related to my problem on the net nor can I find any official san andreas update.

I have tired re-installing the game and have tried a system format with no luck. I cannot go into any missions on GTA as without the cutscene im usually unsure what the mission is.

any ideas anyone??

Do you have any other controllers plugged in? Joysticks, Wheels, Gamepads etc?

if so, try unplugging them.

the second i go into a mission i took the batteries out the keyboard so isnt that.

Hmm, could be a config file of sorts not pointing to the right dvd drive for cutscenes? So the game possibly skips them instead. I need to look at the directory layout of the game later when I get home.

Do you by any chance have a Dual-Core Cpu in your computer? I had some issues on a dual core machine until I forced the game to run from one core only by setting the affinity.

yes i do have dual core. that could be it, will give it a try.

EDIT: Just had a try by going ctrl+alt+del during game n setting to one affinity then going back into game, but this always crashes it or seriously messe sup the graphics :confused:

the cutscenes play even though they are messed up, but at elast they ar eplaying
anyone got any pointers?? the dual core thing is deffo the reason the cut scenes skipped

i think it worked. it still says both cores are used but the is no more skipping cutscenes, or the dreaded random game speed ups.
