It feels a much more durable product than the nano, sports a far greater range of features, offers a bigger and better screen and costs significantly less. Until Apple comes up with a viable alternative there’s a new Sheriff in town.

was going to buy it, then heard the screen is meant to be low res,
but that review makes me want it again 6gb is great too because i feel 4 gb is to small 20gb is too high and i like 192kbps mp3s so i need a bit more space

Also a review Here

I've been reading about this little bugger for a while and think its utterly superb imo, but theres a few downers to this brilliant player. Mainly the fact that theres no custom EQ atm. It also couldn't play files by ID3 tag but apparently it can now.

I've been tempted by this thing to replace my aging 6gb iRiver H10. I may wait for the upcoming 8gb version though.

the 8gb hasnt really been confirmed tho, no idea when it could turn up

im undecided on this or the sammy, after reading reviews of the sammy on that site and seing as the z5f is out in 6 days i dunno which to get, they seem neck and neck, i like the look of the sanzas wheel tho
but as the 6gb sanza is 180 ish and the z5f 4gb is about the same price i just dunno

I bought a 4gb one the other day. So if anyone has any questions fire away. So far I have been more than happy with it. But I wish I could find a way of flashing to the US Bios so I could use the radio feature. Seems a joke that they delete this to save them having to pay a few quid in radio licensing to the EU. My missus's philips go gear 30gb is the same.

So SanDisk have come out with a player which has beat the iPod hardware. But do they have anything to rival the iTunes application and the iTMS? If you want to topple the iPod dominance you've got to attack more than 1/3 of the product.

most people have the music ready on their pcs tho, in ,mp3 format, so thats not that much of a issue, besides sandisk arent big enough to make a music service to rival any thing like itunes, itunes is ahead for good imo, all we need it for apple to open it up to all mp3 players, which they are thinking of doing.

personally the thought of not being tied to software like iTunes (or *shock* *horror* possibly worse) menas major +++++++++. I really don't see peoples attraction. There are many alternatives that whilst might not have quite the selection (if its rare just buy the album) dont limit you so much in terms of everything else.

Just bought the Samsung for a friend and it seemed great for the little bit i used it. Tranferring music was a doddle, album art worked nicely. Only downer is the lack of radio but if there is a version with that coming out it is even better.
One thing they have had a problem with is charging from a mains USB adapter... the one I bought doesn't seem to work. Very odd.

Look at it from the point of the market though. Consumers are stupid, they want the easy in-one-box solution. Until a company can provide this and market their device as "cool", the iPod will continue to drive other manufacturers out of the market. Don't get me wrong, I like my 20GB 4G iPod, and I don't have a problem with iTunes either, but I always want there to be good alternatives to keep Apple on their toes.

How is the video quality?
How do u find the wheel thing?
Is it as scratch resistant as they say?

Video quality isn't bad, theres a 2 min clip of star wars revelations preloaded onto the device and although at 15 fps you can see a little bit of judder it's more smooth than you'd expect. It plays this in widescreen ie you turn the device on it's side to watch. Movie watching isn't a big thing for me but I do read that it only supports mov files which isn't the best format.

Wheel thing is fine, to be honest it's the buttons surrounding it that can be tricky as the wheel is raised your finger can catch on it when pressing the other surrounding buttons. but I had no issues getting used to the navigation. i will say that i'm not very picky though so it could be annoying for some folks. It is a hell of a lot better than my missus's phillips go gear hdd6320 with it's nasty touch screen interface.

The liquid metal looks good, but as to scratch resistance I can't say until I have owned it for longer(only had it a few days). i'd tend to believe the reviews though as it does look and feel tough.

Other than that, the voice recorder works well, the screen is very crisp and bright, the menus are quick and responsive and the supplied earphones while not fantastic are better than ipod fare.

As an IPOD hater this is a good substitute and the mechanics of simply dragging files from windows to the device rather than using software is fine for me, plus all my music is mp3 or wma and not dloaded drm crap(I plain refuse that evil!)

From what Ive heard on dapreveiw and head-fi this player cant quite match the big boys yet - ipod creative iaudio etc - its got too many bugs and sq is not the best of the bunch either!

Sound quality is great. Really pleased. I was initially listening though some freebie sony erricson headphones...was a little disappointed! Now through my Sennheisers.. :D :D
