Does anybody have any opinions on SanDisk's USB Flash Memory or just SanDisk in general?

I am looking into getting one of their 2GB drives with the switch that retracts the USB head (I think this would be great as there is nothing more annoying then being in a hurry and loosing the cap).

I am currently using a Integral 256MB (about 4 years old).

Any replies would be greatly appreciated...

I haven't had much experience with Sandisk as such, but if memory serves they are one of the biggest flash memory manufacturers (IIRC they make the "Sony" branded pro-duo etc), and are meant to be pretty good.

Use their compact flash cards in my camera, PDA and some MMC I think in my old Ngage phone, all working flawlessly for years.

Great brand, no idea on the USB memory sticks but as a brand name it certainly has my backing.

I got a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 1GB from work for free, with the retractable USB head.

Its really good, tough lil thing and the good thing is there is not a USB head cover to loose lol.

Well worth it :)

Thanks for your reply there mattbill, unfortunatly the titanium version is a little out of my price legue, I love the part of the SanDisk Cruzer Series not having a cap but the retractable head, very good idea on SanDisks part there.

Here is the one I am looking into:

SanDisk Cruzer® Micro 2GB (Black)

I don't suppose there is anybody who might have the same "SanDisk Cruzer® Micro Series" here. And tell me of their experiences with it. Good or bad.

Thank you all for replying, it is much appreciated,

Please keep them coming...

Sandisk are probably one of the best makers of flash memory, so I reckon it will be great, im also thinking of getting a 4g one soon with U3, you can do some interesting stuff with U3.

So what's so special about U3?, the apps look like portable apps, and these will run off any memory stick.

Am I missing something completely new and unheard of?

Currently running off my Crucial Gizmo Overdrive 2GB USB stick:

Abi Word
FileZilla
Firefox
NVU
Open Office
Sunbird
Thunderbird
GIMP
z-Zip
ClamWin
VLC Media Player
XnView for Windows
PhotoFiltre
Blender
Miranda
JPEG Crops

All run off the pen drive and store all settings, documents, favourites etc on the pen drive, so I always have my apps and documents with me.

You can make xp think its an autoplay cd, then autoplay whatever as soon as you stick it in a pc. I wont say what people are using that for :)
