I am doing some research into sandwich buying trends. Could you tell me what you buy at lunch time and roughly how much you spend. I'm not really interested in the Subway type stuff, but more the kind of independant sandwich shop type thing. Also, do you regularly buy hot drinks to take away along with snacks / biscuits?

Any help would be great and no, I'm not getting into the 'how many sandwiches is it.............' arguement.

Ta.

PS. Could be a special something (chocolate based?) for those who are really helpful.

if i was to buy a sandwhich at college (if i havent taken one). It will be plain ham or turkey/chicken! Cost around £1.85

I buy one sandwhich that even when cut in half is still one sandwhich, normally tuna and cucumber or a BLT on brown bread :)

About £1.50 i think they are, and i buy mineral water as well

Truffles. Basically a chain of bakeries, a bit like Greggs. £2.40 for sandwiches though. Although, this includes thick bread and a lot of filling.

Cheese + Ham with no extra sauce or whatever. <3

If I need to buy it will usually be a BLT and I prefer white bread and butter rather than the crappy mayo some places use. i also like coronation chicken and the breakfast type sandwiches (bacon sausage egg). I guess they're £1.50-£2.00 usually.

I'd like to see cheese and piccalilli or sausage and mild/salad onion on sale as thats what I make for myself :)

I had pittas for my tea yesterday filled with shredded white cabbage, chopped chilli, spring onions, sliced tomatoes, sliced sweet peppers and chunks of feta cheese. Does that count as a sandwich?

Local place used to go a monster sized bap for £2.75 with a meat filling and salad. Add a can of coke and a packet of Walkers on that too.

Trouble is like most things these days, the small guy is getting pushed out, so there are less and less of the small independant sandwich shops. Unless you know a place is good, I'd probably pick one of the big chains like Pret, Subway, Quiznos, Greggs etc over a small sandwich shop because you know what to expect, regardless of where you are in the country.

I like plain sandwiches. I'd like to buy a chicken, cheese, ham or tuna sandwich that isn't clarted in lettuce or sweetcorn or tomatoes or any other rubbish. I like a coffee to go with it but only if it's practical.

I don't buy sandwiches any more. I bought one years ago, but I cut it in half and then I had two sandwiches. I thought that was a bit odd, so I cut them in half again, and all of a sudden I had 4 sandwiches! Crazy, I know! Since then, I've just kept cutting them in half. Last I checked I'd got through 1048576 sandwiches.

Sandwich buying trends? Ha! Not for me!

I go to my local sandwich shop and buy a chicken satay with lettuce on a white baguette, everday! and if i'm feeling rather flush i'll get myself a scotch egg as well :D

EDIT: forgot £3 the lot

Well you havnt cut it in half then have you..

and whats this tin of worms doing high up on that shelf.. better stretch and get it.. WOOPS!

I tend to either go to Baker's oven and buy a sandwich/wrap, a sausage roll, and a drink and crisps, or I go to a proper independent sarnie shop near work and get a sandwich, can of drink and bags of crisps for £2.99.

From the independent, I usually have either chicken/turkey/tuna, with cucumber salad cream and lettuce, or cheese and pickle.

So you want to set up a business selling sandwiches, eh?

:D

Yup, but not allowed to advertise. Research is serious though and the reward is still up for grabs.
