Lo chaps, just a quick question, I run a sandy 3700, usually at 3ghz using a vapols. I'm using a dfi sli d board with some gskill pc4800 (2x512). Had a problem a couple of weeks back as I was running the memory at 1T @ 300mhz 2.5-4-4-8, kept getting freezing and crashes. Like a pillock I ramped the volts up from 1.75 to 1.83 (in bios). After this I found the ram wasn't even stable at 2.5-4-4-8 @ 275 (I reduced vcore back to about 1.75), I currently running a divider so ram is like 200 @ 2-2-2-5 with 300htt. Even this isn't stable , (well sometimes is, sometimes isn't) even running @ 280 with 133 divider at 2.5-3-3-6 still random lock ups :(

So I'm wondering have I borked my memory controller? The dfi isn't the easiest to configure, however I've used every setting I can find on anandtech for my board and the gskill and still no joy!!!

If it has died what you guys reckon I go with cpu wise? Got 300 odd to spend, possibly 400, May be able to get a second hand fx57, or do I go dual core or opty dual core? Also what are dual cores like under vapols?

Cheers folks

does it run stock speeds fine ( i know it'll be a hell of a slower than you normally have it)
atleast then you can see whether it doesnt work at stock speeds if it doesnt then yea i'd say you've done some sort of damage to the cpu.

Think you need to run the cpu at stock on stock cooling and see what happens. Have heard about mem controllers freezing so could be that. Have you done memtest on your memory - id expect it more likely that your mem has died rather than the cpu.

hi all,
i am also having trouble with my 3700.until today my pc was working fine overclocked to 2.8ghz using the south bridge to north bridge overclock thing on my asus a8n32 sli, i booted up windows and notice in the properties of my computer it said it was 2.0ghz so i restarted went into the bios reset everything and tried again, same thing happend so i used the asus AI overclocking feature in the bios that seems to be displaying my CPU is at 2.8ghz but when i restarted to save the changes in the bios it showed it was 2.0ghz, so i went into windows and it says 2.8 on CPUZ only can anyone help me with this problem? is my CPU borked?
