Sandy Bridge Build Blue Screens

Im running a i5 2500k and asus p67 pro and was having some issues with BSODs and so ive reinstalled Windows and its working fine again so much have been a corrupted instal.

However while reseaeching what can cause Bsods i found that there are issues with the Marvel chipset drivers and that these can cause problems with bsods so maybe those could be causing an issue

Also just thought i would mention, games are running great for the majority of the time, but had a few problems.

Been running Crysis all very high + 2xAA and getting about 30 minimum fps but most of the time its about 40 and has been up at 50 a bit so really good. Only problem though in the opening video on the aeroplane it freezes for a couple of seconds straight away, and also when something breaks ure parachute on the way down it does the same thing.

Another thing is when i tried the 64 bit version of crysis, when jumping off the plane video and audio just jammed, and the monitor started flickering on and off so would this be a problem with the graphics card?

Been running windows 7 64 bit, but really prefer 32 bit, what sort of performance difference would I see in games using 32 bit windows?

Have reinstalled windows quite a few times, so don't think its that. Haven't been using the marvel sata ports either. Thanks anyway.

Its at 100.3, can that cause problems? I think 1253 is a beta, I just flashed to 1204 so Ill see how that goes.

Also realised that anytime i boot up and go straight to memtest, do 1 pass I get no errors and no problems in windows. If I don't boot memtest and go straight to windows i get blue screens then errors in memtest after restarting.

The overclockers sandy bridge guide does state to manually set it to 100. Increases can cause various problems as this clock controls a lot of the systems within your PC. However yours is such a small increase it might not be the cause.

I'm on 1204 and have no issues. 1305 is available (non beta) from the link below but i haven't upgraded as i don't feel the need.

I found earlier bios versions had a habit of forgetting your settings. What voltage and timings does your RAM have? (eg 1600Mhz and 7-8-7-24-1T)

Getting the double boot issue again with the 1204 bios :(

The ram is 1.5v 9-9-9-24 and cpuz says 2T with DRAM frequency 802.7MHz (It should be 800Mhz though I think, have set the ram speed to 1600Mhz in bios).

Just booted up my pc, so dont know if the blue screen issue is still here.

When Im just on desktop multiplier of processor goes up to 35, is that normal? It hasn't been overclocked, shows a speed of 3511Mhz which is obviously quite a bit over the 3300Mhz its supposed to run at.

Well as i posted earlier i was having similar issues as you and they have returned again now. I have similar spec with p67 pro and samsung spinpoint 4 gigs of corsair.

I get memory management blue screens and other issues including as you have mentioned chrome crashing which is normally before the blue screen. However the system seems fine when im playing games ie crysis and will happily run for hours.

Have you had any luck sorting it out yet?

No, no luck.

I tried using windows 7 32bit instead of 64bit, same problems with blue screens and memtest errors although crysis is not jamming and still running great.

It just seems that randomly it is booting up with these problems, sometimes it will boot up and I will know within a couple of minutes if it is going to bluescreen or run great until I shut it down.

Have you tried using memtest? Would be interesting to see if you get the exact same errors. My errors were all between 1150 and 1280mb. Yesterday I tried using only slot 3 with 1 stick and I got no problems, I have now added my second stick in slot 4 and will see if I have any problems.

I'm pretty sure this is a motherboard problem, although there is no point sending it back now as asus are going to replace them in about a month or so due to the faulty chipsets. I called asus and they took my details down and will contact me when they get the replacement boards in so I can swap it.

Another strange thing I have noticed is that right now the sticks are running at 6-6-6-20 when they are rated at 9-9-9-24. I am running the xmp profile which states in bios 9-9-9-24 so I have no idea why they have changed. If anybody can help me with this would really appreciate it.

Cheers

Had a lot of errors with memtest with both sticks, although 0 in 3 passes with just 1 stick in slot 3.

With ram running in slot 3 the timings were 6-6-6-20
Exact same stick running in slot 1 with timings of 9-9-9-24 which is what the ram is supposed to run at. No idea why this would happen

Well like you i decided to try a new Hard drive and this failed to solve the issues although it was another spinpoint so i could be issues with these and the asus motherboards. Gonna run memtest this weekend when i get the chance and see what that brings up.

Its really frustrating because sometimes it appears fine ive almost completed crysis on this syetm and it hasnt crashed the whole time ive been playing it. But sometimes with certain boots the issues start and things begin crashing then inevitably a blue screen occurs.

Ive got a feeling its a motherboard issue with mine aswell but ill see what memtest says this weekend
