Sandy Bridge E delayed to 2012

Maybe intel got some intel on BD and are now trying to beef up SBE (if only!) lol

I would not be surprised if you are correct. Say bulldozer has been delayed untill (god forbid :( ) early-mid 2012, if they release it at the same time or earlier (heck even later, people will still buy it) or they could wait for the benchmarks, then add the finishing touches to SBE, then in turn, beef up Ivybridge

Bulldozer is being released this year. Anyway, it means Bulldozer will still only have to compete with Sandy Bridge ATM. It wouldn't surprise me if the second generation Bulldozer CPUs are also released in 2012 as the Trinity Fusion CPUs are based on them.

Are those the APU's? like llano?
So in effect, you could be getting an 8 core cpu, with a gpu built in? or am in the wrong ball park here...

Llano will be replaced by a fusion chip with a Bulldozer CPU core, that is correct. The current chips use slightly beefed-up Athlon II cores. I doubt they'd have 8 cores though, unless they switched to 22 nm at that point (which again, I doubt). More likely 4 and 6 core versions with even better IGPs.

I meant bulldozer 2 will be like an 8 core badass llano hybrid thing

Maybe they have lots of sandy bridge stock to shift first, as I bet the b2-b3 fiasco and with the new AMD CPU coming it is going to hold back some sales of sandy bridge.

Well Sandy Bridge in it's current form was the platform to replace the old S1156 i7/i5/i3 lineup. Restricted in it's PCIe lanes, reduced from Triple Channel to Dual Channel memory controller, not really "enthusiast".

The x79/S2011/Sandy Bridge-E (and Ivy Bridge-E) will address all the shortcomings of the S1155 platform, and offer an un-compromised, out and out enthusiast platform. No holds barred.

Moving from X58 to P67 (or Z68) isn't really worthwhile, although the delay with SB-E does make things more difficult when you have the upgrade itch :p

Maybe its something to do with the current sandybridges overclocking to such high levels, and they have to make it better or it will be a flop and no one will buy them? lol

I'm still on C2D !!!

I think it might worthwhile for me ?

You think what might be worthwhile for you?

Overclocking headroom will have little (if anything) to do with the delay. SB-E will have the same (or similar) overclocking headroom, plus the extended features of an enthusiast platform.

But only limited sales if its not much better than whats out there now? If only enthusiasts will buy?

They will find their way into pretty much all major branded workstation class machines, most still revolve around the X58 platform (either in i7 form or Xeon form), which will be a large chunk of the market for SB-E (and IB-E). Xeons based on SB-E will also bring a huge chunk of income.

The custom/home-build PC market is a low number of sales for Intel, even with the current S1155 Sandy Bridge.
