Wassup Easter coming big time.
Anyway Is it just me or anyone else is sick of those IS SANDY STILL OK threads ??
Feels like every other day some asks this stupid (By now) Question. Like people looking for excuse to upgrade 4-5 year old cpu that runs at 5ghz EZ with good cooling and expect gains in games.
I used to have sandy at 5ghz and single thread performance on it is/was still higher than what i got on Maxed out Ryzen 1700x( Not by much but still)
Only reason i upgraded was that i had 2500k not 2600/2700 and when i started encoding videos for my Rave Machine Youtube Chanel I needed more encoding power. Tried Ivy but with Tim could not even do 4.3 on my water due to temps LOL ended up with HW-E.

But for pure gaming. If i still had Sandy i would deffo invest in better GPU even freaking Titan Xp maybe would be bottle-necked but at lest after upgrading platform some time down the road would be DOUBLE GAIN :)
Other option would be investing in better Cooling like proper Custom loop that would allow me to Overclock my Sandy more. And when I would swap platform I would have great cooling to start with.

TLTR:
2600k/2700k will be good for gaming another 2 years if not more looking how slow cpu's evolve. Maybe wont offer same minimum fps like 7700k@5ghz. But in the end faster GPU is still way to go for gaming INIT?? :]

ps. Nottingham city is DEAD today like everyone is off

Drink less sugary drinks and report back with the results
A im on 0 sugar diet for 3 years. Note even piece of cake for birthday. No other way to maintain 6 pack.

So far only people that upgraded or want to are not using their Sandys for Gaming but also workloads.

Simple for Ryzen upgrade You can buy 1080ti. What will give You more fps when u rocking 4.8+ 2600k ??

by the time you have spent money on this it would have been better to sell your mobo/cpu/ram and get a second hand 6700k setup, my cpu was £200, 70 for a mobo and what ever ram was

And u still need watercopking for it talking proper 200 pounds plus kit...

Some peopme here are missing the MAIN POINT.. Im talking Sandy 2600/2700@ proper 4.8+ overclock. In my eyes 4.4 on those is pathetic mine ran 5ghz constant 5 years and still running at my sister !!!

Just to show how much RAW BRUTE power my 2500k had in single thread operations. compared to my [email protected] and my Ryzen from signature.
Btw Lowest Sandy score is with untuned ddr3 running at 1600 highest is with ddr3 at 2133 with 40 hours of timing tuning invested :D

Thats fine if all you do is play dx9 games. Modern games are using more than 4 cores. Not disputing the power of a 5ghz 2500k lol but they are not the best for modern gaming.
This is about 2600/2700k that are 8 thread kinda... But ST will be same as 2500k.
If i had 2600k@5ghz i would still have 1000% :D

should add this score of 7700k for comparison how much stuff went forward over years. Thats 25 % more give or take than sandy :)

Another reason not to support intel. We had no choice before but now we do. Its like they were doing it on purpose.
Shame ryzen cant catch 5820k tho :( And mine was super poor clocker maxing 4.4 and 2666 rams no mater what. Other people are runnign em at 4.5-4,6 no problem
