Sandy Bridge Recall and oem Windows reinstall

Has anyone here ever had to replace a motherboard after installing an oem copy of Windows?

Is it an easy thing to do?

Hope I'm wrong but I'm getting the impression that a like for like replacement of my board is not going to be as easy and clear cut as I was hoping.
