...just wondering if anyone's gotten a hold of these? I've just finished a project at work here on an EVGA SR-2 with 2 x Xeon X5690's @ 4.2Ghz, and have been asked to potentially prototype the above chips for a potential large-scale implementation. Anyone got any experience with them yet, and have any thoughts on heat/temps/overclocking ability?

Damo, again I shall answer for you, although the in depth discussion at EVGA will give you detailed info.

The current range of 2011 Xeons have next to no over-clocking features at all.
The best you will achieve is a bclk of 105 or similar since the straps are all locked as is the multi.

The SRX will give you many features and great performance from the right chips but at this time you will not be able to overclock so the boards from ASUS and super-micro are ever more popular since they have similar features, and also in some cases a better form factor. (excuse the pun)

PS how did the SR-2 overclock go?
